The oldest attraction at the Springfield Botanical Gardens, the 7.5-acre Mizumoto Japanese Stroll garden was built in 1985 and includes a koi lake, moon bridge, meditation garden, tea house, traditional Japanese garden landscaping and a 7-ton Alaskan Jade stone. The garden is home to the Springfield Sister Cities Association's Japanese Fall Festival.

Professional photography in the garden requires an annual photo pass ($150) or a daily photo pass ($25) available at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 417-891-1515

Gardens are maintained by the Friends of the Garden and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. Gardens are supported by the Springfield Sister Cities Association.

  • A beautiful and tranquil place. $3 admission fee which was well worth it. I felt like I got a $25 value for just looking around. Got lots of great photos and had a good time enjoying the scenery.
  • This is a must see. One of my favorite places in town.
  • This is a nice peaceful place to walk around and enjoy nature with a few Asian accents. This place does charge an entry fee so be prepared.
  • Very well kept Japanese Garden. Nice walkways. Great views.
  • There is a small fee to enter, it is peaceful and pretty the water in the ponds had a lot of algae growing at the time
