  • This historic house was purchased by Abraham Lincoln and his wife in 1844. This house has 14 rooms and 2 floors. He was soon to be elected president in 1860. Lincoln's son donated his fathers house to the state of Illinois in 1877. The agreement they made was this house will be for tours and will be free to everybody to go here. This ho,e became a National Historic site in 1971. When you get a chance there are other houses in the area as well. I had a great time here and learned a lot of history.
  • When you say Springfield Illinois, most people instantly think of Abraham Lincoln. This is the home he actually lived in, you get this home plus so many more, because they have a little neighborhood set up that you can walk through. It makes it feel like a nice quiet neighborhood. I would suggest taking the guided tour.
  • See Lincoln's original home. A few original pieces remain inside. The NPS guides are great and the price is right - Free! (due to Robert's agreement long ago). Also walk around the town and the several other houses that are open. A great way to get a good feel for the times.
  • Such a great place to visit. I visited the Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Mid May and I had a great time. I was not only able to check out State / Lincoln history but I learned a great deal. Springfield is very much worth a visit if you are into Abraham Lincoln. Can't wait until I go again.
  • Beautifully preserved Home that Lincoln lived in for ten years leading up to his presidential years. They restored Lincolns home and the 4 block surrounding the home to the way they were in his time.
