  • The home was amazing. Many original pieces of furniture, including his original writing desk on display in the completely restored residence.

  • This historic house was purchased by Abraham Lincoln and his wife in 1844. This house has 14 rooms and 2 floors. He was soon to be elected president in 1860. Lincoln's son donated his fathers house to the state of Illinois in 1877. The agreement they made was this house will be for tours and will be free to everybody to go here. This ho,e became a National Historic site in 1971. When you get a chance there are other houses in the area as well. I had a great time here and learned a lot of history.
  • I loved walking around Lincoln's home and the surrounding area, and reading all the plaques describing the history of each home. The area is preserved beautifully, and you really feel like you've stepped back in time. A must-see destination.
  • So much authentic furniture and attention to detail. They've tried to make the place look as close to it was when Lincoln lived there. Delightful!
  • When you say Springfield Illinois, most people instantly think of Abraham Lincoln. This is the home he actually lived in, you get this home plus so many more, because they have a little neighborhood set up that you can walk through. It makes it feel like a nice quiet neighborhood. I would suggest taking the guided tour.
  • We toured the home in March. Very beautiful and so interesting. Loved it !
