The MassMutual Center (formerly Springfield Civic Center) is a multi-purpose arena and convention center complex located in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts, in the city's Metro Center. The arena opened in 1972 and the convention center opened in 2005. It serves as a venue for meetings, conventions, exhibitions, sporting and entertainment events.

Previously owned and operated by the City of Springfield and various management groups until 1997, the city transferred ownership of the facility to the Massachusetts Legislature. Shortly after, ownership was given to the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) who in turn began working on plans to renovate and expand the facility. The two-year project, which began in 2003, included renovations to the 8,000 seat arena and the addition of a convention center. Its unique design allows for 3 to 4 concurrent events or one large event with a capacity of up to 16,000.

MGM Springfield began operating the venue on behalf of the MCCA in July 2017 in advance of its casino/hotel/retail development opening the next year.

In 2005, the venue was renamed when Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company entered into a 15-year naming rights agreement for the arena and convention center. The name change took place on September 29, 2005.

The venue is home to the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League and American International Yellow Jackets who compete in NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey.

  • We are here from Maine for my daughters cheering competition. I personally loved the entire venue. The set up was unique and far better organized than any of the other competition venues we have attended over the past few seasons. There was plenty of seating, and by that I mean there were plenty of options for one to sit in a seat closer to the performance mats. The music/microphone projection was perfect, not muffled or distorted. This place is well taken care of and run exceptionally.
  • Great local venue for catching some hockey or other shows. The concourse has several offerings for food and drink. The smaller venue means there aren't a really any bad seats. There are parking lots around the building but the casino parking is just a short 5 minute walk away. That's free and you can grab dinner there or hang to play a bit while traffic dies down.
  • The seats are definitely tight and it sucks to not be able to keep the cap to your water, but we enjoy going to events here. It's good to have somewhere within the city to enjoy sports games and comedy shows. The box office and concessions people are always friendly and helpful. Lines can be long for concessions but move quickly.
  • Doing the best they can with what they have. Dated building but they make it work. Desperately need some escalators at the main entrance. Can't believe I haven't seen anyone fall on the way in or out of the hockey games. Great special, fun events, craft beer. Could use a little work with their food options and with their bar. Need more sports bar feel, and less service bar.
  • It was great to get out of the house with my daughter and her boyfriend. The atmosphere surrounding the hockey game was great. Not to mention the tribute to the men and women of the Military and Veterans alike that did served. Great job....
