  • Chain 'O Lakes State Park sits about 60 miles northwest of Chicago, just south of the Wisconsin border. I'm an autumn camper so my review is based on that time frame. No entrance fee is charged just t...  read more »

  • We had so much fun there. The Campsites were nice where we were. Everyone there was super nice. I will say Gill and all the people at the little bait shop were amazingly friendly. I know that alot of people were saying bad things about the rangers and such, and yes they did pass often, but at the same time they smiled and waved everytime they passed. Even at the beginning when we weren't given the second reservation card for the campsite, and a ranger stopped, i just showed him my receipt, and he told us just to run and go get one, and if we had a problem tell them to call him. Was a great experience!!!!! P.S. Most secluded camping was in Prairieview.
  • Extremely unhappy with this place. The nearest bathroom was closed for cleaning for 2 hours over it s scheduled time without any kind of notice when it would be open again. No one would answer the phone at the office when called and no one would answer the doors of the bathroom. I understand this is a campground but this was still not acceptable. We waiting for 45 minutes for the bathroom to open and then had to walk back to our campsite to get our car since the other bathroom was too far away.
  • I've been full time RV for a little over a year and have stayed at this park several times. The fishing, horseback riding, water activities are wonderful. The privacy of the sites in Fox Den are great as well. The only issue I have encountered EVERY time I've stayed here are RUDE hosts. Seriously, there is ZERO customer service at the front gate from the time you arrive, to every time you return after 8pm. You'd think they'd get to know regular paying customers!! Not at all. Don't expect to catch a night Cubs, Sox, Brewers or Bears game, the front gate will be locked by the time you get back to the park and it's a hike!! Most of the hosts don't even like each other, and it shows! ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION MANAGEMENT
  • It was a descent campsite but what really made it bad was the fact that the manager put us at the site with the best view of the cemetery even though there was so many other spots available, not only that but there were bits of glass all over the campsite, we would have mentioned this to the management but we didn't out of fear that they might hold us accountable for it and charge us for damaging there camp ground, their rules are so strict I would have more freedom at a concentration camp and the campsites were also way to close to one another so if it's packed at the camp ground you won't get much privacy, overall we had a terrible time so we had to leave early and cut our vacation, it is in my best recommendation that you avoid this place as much as possible
  • I camped there with my aunt and uncle and i love the horseback riding and i liked fishimg there and riding my bike. The last two times ive been there i had a great experience even when it rained i had a fun time.
