Create an itinerary including Fall Creek Falls
To see the highest free-falling waterfall east of the Mississippi, hike the trails of Fall Creek Falls. Nestled in an area renowned for its geological formations and scenic overlooks, this state park spans over 8,000 hectares (20,000 acres). The park's namesake waterfall plunges from a height of 78 m (256 ft), creating a large pool of crystalline water surrounded by steep rocks covered in dense vegetation. The park also contains several caves, including one with the second-largest cavern chamber in the U.S. Open year-round, the site houses a restaurant, inn, 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, and three large campgrounds. Print or download a map of the park's trails and facilities before you visit. • Such a beautiful fall to see. There was a sign indicating strenuous walk to the bottom, so I hesitated. The overlook showed all its glamorous view.

  • We always have a great time at the park. We hiked to the big falls and took a swim. The water was freezing but worth it.

  • The best falls at this park for sure. Just drive straight all the way from the park entrance to get to the Falls creek falls overlook area. There is a restroom on the left side. Walk past this to get to the overlook. The view from here is awesome if its not foggy. From here, the hike to the bottom of the falls is a steep descend. It is 0.4 miles to the bottom of the hike. It is marked “strenuous” because of the slippery steps, tree roots and boulders you have to get through. But take your time, and you will be fine. I took 20 mins to get to the bottom. Once you get to the bottom, the views are just stunning! You can swim at the bottom, or stand directly under the falls. There is also a few hiking trails from the bottom of the falls but i didn’t do it. The climb back is obviously harder, and just takes a lil more time. YOU CAN DO IT! • Hands down one of my favorite hikes in TN. The waterfall is STUNNING. The walk to get to the bottom is a lot of stairs, but you don't have to walk down to enjoy the waterfall. (I still recommend it.) The scenic overlook point is a spectacular view, and usually a very quiet spot. Highly recommend.
  • Frome the moment you enter the park it is a beautiful place to visit. The trails and the water falls are amazing. The trail heads are all drivable. Once there get out and take an amazing trip though the woods. There will be different points throughout the forest to be able to see different water falls and different views of the water falls. All of the trails are marked and are easy to navigate. Once your done you can go back to the snack shack and have an awesome lunch . Very nice place to go with family and friends.
  • FCF is one of the must visit falls in Tennessee! Amazing view and equally interesting hike to the base of the falls, and it's all worth it! There is ample parking at the falls overlook spot and clear signs and directions to descent to the base. There are a lot of hiking spots to and from the falls overlook area to Nature Center and / or FCF visitor center. Highly recommend!
  • Absolutely beautiful and amazing place of beauty. The trails are so worth the views and you will get a great workout.
