  • Very nice if you really like birds. Carvings, demonstration area, prints and paintings. Small fee to enter and a few sculptures and panels outside as well.
  • We visited Southwest Harbor last week and stopped in at the Wendell Gilley Museum. Our visit there was one of the highlights of our Maine trip. Gilley's evolution from plumber/hunter to artist is a great story. His woodcarvings of Maine birds are astonishing. The artist in our family had a great time carving a duck in basswood with the resident artists. He left with a new enthusiasm for wood carving.
  • Interesting! If your a bird buff this is an unexpected lovely site to visit. The wood carving artist is always there working at his bench and many displays of wood carved birds & foul local to the region. $10 entry fee.
