This is a super quaint little island that is privately owned. The dock hand was very helpful upon our arrival. There's a restaurant and some rental cottages on the island. Be sure to take the 15 min w... read more »
We have been here 30+ times with babies, young ones, teens, and now our adult children. We have brought grandparents, sibling, inlaws - you get the picture. We had a lovely boat ride from Boca Grande ... read more »
Beautiful place to explore!! There are trails here and even a basketball hoop! I have not used the cottages but they look great!!! This is definitely a great place to explore. As for the restaurant, it has got a very unique cool feel to it, but incredibly limited on the choices or options with food. I would barely call it a restaurant. But I guess it is understandable since they are an isolated island.
HAD TO GIVE ONE STAR BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT POST A REVIEW WITHOUT DOING SO...WENT OUT FOR LUNCH. PLACE WAS EMPTY AND AS WE APPROACHED THE DOCK WHICH ALL SLIPS WHERE EMPTY WAS GREETED BY A DOCK EMPLOYEE YELLING AT AS TO WHERE TO PARK. TALK DOWN TO US AS IF WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT WE WHERE DOING WENT AS FAR AS TO TALK DOWN TO MY DAUGHTERS TEENAGE BOYFRIEND. HE IS VERY LUCKY THAT I HELD MY MYSELF BACK AND STAYED CALM. DID NOT WANT TO MAKE MY FAMILY UNCOMFORTABLE ON SUCH A NICE WEEKEND. SAT DOWN IN RESTAURANT FOR LUNCH AND ALL THEY HAD WAS ONLY 4-5 ITEMS ON THE MENU. DRINKS WHERE IN PLASTIC CUPS FULL OF ICE AND ONLY TOOK TWO SIPS TO FINISH, 3 SHIRLEY TEMPLES AND ONE BEER $15.00. DECIDED TO LEAVE WITHOUT HAVING ANY FOOD.. YOU WOULD THINK THAT SUCH A DESTINATION WOULD HAVE A BETTER SELECTION ON THEIR MENU.. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BARNACLES IS 100 TIMES BETTER. FROM THE MOMENT YOU ARRIVE AT THE DOCK YOU ARE GREETED WITH A HELPFUL SMILING DOCK ATTENDANT!
We stay in angle wood every summer and decided to take the boat down to cabbage key for lunch the day after our wedding. The gentleman that helped us dock was very nice. I had the mahi over black beans and rice (per my father in laws suggestion) and my husband had a burger and cole slaw. Both of our meals were great! They don't do anything fried because they want to preserve the island which I think is great! Over all great experience and plan on going back again today. Love the history of the island and the old Florida feel.

Cabbage Key is a barrier Island located South of Boca Grande and North of Sanibel. This Island has a great Restaurant and several cabins and rooms to have a nice get a way to. There is not any wifi service in the rooms or cottages, however there is in the restaurant. The Island takes you back in time and allows you the ability to truly relax and read a good book. Don't forget to walk the trails on the Island and see the lush tropical vegetation.
We were told to check out Cabbage Key when we rented a boat from North Captiva (Jimmy Buffet apparently wrote Cheeseburger in Paradise at the restaurant). It was worth the visit. Helpful service from the dock to the waitresses, good food (but slightly overpriced), and unique scenery. Overall, the experience was well worth the trip.
