Where to stay in South Padre Island

As with most tropical destinations, room rates in South Padre Island increase the closer you get to the beachfront, especially if you arrive at the height of tourist season. If you’ve built in a big budget for accommodations, stay at one of the town's high-rise luxury hotels or private seaside cottages. To stay near the water without spending too much, avoid the expensive spring break season. Consider one of the island's inns or developed campgrounds with easy beach access.

  • We think this is the best of the Schlitterbaums because of the surf machine and the beach access. Good park for kids for sure.  more »
  • Kids and adults love Schlitterbahn. We love the "lazy river" and tube access to the water slides. This park handles crowds well. Get a seasons pass if you want to visit 3 or more times during the summ...  more »
  • This was our third vacation to Padre where we visited the park. We always buy the two day passes on-line before we go for a better rate and the refill cups that can be used all day. ($11.00 per cup if...  more »

  • Love the place! People/staff very friendly. Water attractions are AWESOME! worth the $$$ Rooms accomodations could be better, but we were still very please with everything!! We got a king size and couch bed. Couch bed was really bad. You are able to feel all the rings from the mattress. Overall, great. We will return
  • Enjoyable water park with cool design of riding the lazy river into each individual ride while on your tube. They have plenty of tubes, some being doubles that have a bottom on one side so parents can ride with their little ones. Food was reasonable, got a burger basket for around $11. Plenty of shade. Indoor park was a good walk from the outdoor area with very hot sidewalks leading the way. The wave lazy river doesn't live up to its sister wave lazy river in New Braunfels, unfortunately. Would have liked it if it had the same dramatic waves as the NB version version.
  • This place is a ton of fun. Very clean, and tons of fun rides. The Lazy River is enough to keep you busy for the entire day, if that's all you wanted to do. Free innertubes, free parking, and take in your own cooler so you can eat food that you bring yourself. Friendly staff and plenty of lifeguards so you feel safe!
  • Don't order food from the grill took 30-45 minutes to get two funnel cakes that were over cooked when we got them. The manager hid from us at the counter to not hear our complaints. The hotel was fine. The park was fun. You judge the rest......
  • This was my family's first visit to this park and we had the best time! It's such a great concept that the entrance to most of the water rides are via the lazy river. I also really enjoy that there are outdoor and indoor rides.
