  • A beautiful set of homes and buildings that have been restored to show the way the families lived there in the early to mid 20th century. Unfortunately unable to enter any of them due to Covid, but.....  more »
  • We literally ran into this area on our bike ride. So many structures to see. Have to go back with more time. The grounds are well kept and the old structures are restored and neat.  more »

  • Really nicely maintained and huge place to explore the history behind all those cute little houses. Amazed by the architecture and what each building was used for. If you have the time and willing to pay, join the tour to look at the inside of the main house because from the windows it's really hard to see the magnificence of the interior designs.
  • Kids had a blast. They offer some classes, my daughter did a cooking class for kids and loved it. Easy trails to walk around. Spots where you can get in the water.
  • Serenity... Very beautiful and pleasant place to visit. Massive trees and views of Lake Tahoe. Most of the buildings seem to have no personal guide. It did look like a lot of the buildings had placards in the lawn where you can learn about the history of the building. There is a nice gentleman who works in the blacksmith shop, David. He actually makes goods for sale. If you are fortunate enough to have a bit of time to chat, he is a wealth of knowledge about Tallac Historic Site and the history of South Lake Tahoe. You're sure to learn something interesting. Take your time to stroll through with your family. Seems to be a dog friendly place too. Be sure to be on the lookout for massive pinecones and the Snow Plant, Freddie the Freeloader. They are a brilliant red plant scattered throughout the property. Get out and enjoy yourself!
  • Dog friendly beach is the biggest plus. It has small historical homes for viewing through window. Beach was only a few feet long, don't expect massive beach. Keep expectations lows and you will enjoy yourself.
  • My garden club friends, along with my beautiful granddaughter and I went to the Great Gatsby event here and had a ball! I loved all the old clothes, old cars, touring the homes, seeing the pretty gardens, sitting in the gazebo in the shade by a pond, eating delicious homemade fruit popsicles, the friendly docents, and seeing the beautiful high tea set up by the lake.
