Landmark
At the heart of Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Plaza offers historical sightseeing, shopping, dining, and arts. See the early 20th-century city hall that's still in use and the Bear Flag monument that marks the spot of an 1846 Mexican-American War revolt. Browse the shops for clothing, bags, jewelry, and books. Because of its proximity to wine country, you can choose from among an array of wine cellars and tasting rooms and indulge in local and imported brands. You'll find plenty of galleries here that feature historical and contemporary pieces from around the world, and the area offers numerous spots for photography. Start your visit at the visitors' bureau on the east side of the plaza. Add Sonoma Plaza to your Sonoma travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Sonoma vacation route planner.

  • The Napa area is vast and so many things to see. Sonoma is among the nicest (we have recommended to do so an American friend who worked here). If you decide to also eat considered at most a few hours. The square is well kept and the sides are all restaurants and handicraft shops and tasting rooms of course. Because on the whole square.

  • Love the history and fun that the plaza embody. I am proud to have contributed to upgrading the electrical system, adding trees to Grindstad Amphitheater, and redoing the duck pond as part of the Red and White Ball committee for 5 years. I'm a member of the Sonoma Parlor #111 of the Native Son of the Golden West and we use and support events on the plaza year round.
  • Wonderful, historical, beautiful downtown Sonoma has every ethnic restaurant & shop imaginable & a park in the center of it all. Plenty of parking. Only downfall is the shops close early, so shop first then eat & drink.
  • Fun area to play. Farmers market on Tuesday afternoon was great. Lot's of shopping, food and wineries here. Also, the historic mission.
  • Great square. They have farmer's markets with great food, music, and art
  • Born an raised here. Great Farmer's Market on Tuesdays with live music and food.
