Sonoma Plaza, Sonoma

4.6
Park · Landmark
At the heart of Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Plaza offers historical sightseeing, shopping, dining, and arts. See the early 20th-century city hall that's still in use and the Bear Flag monument that marks the spot of an 1846 Mexican-American War revolt. Browse the shops for clothing, bags, jewelry, and books. Because of its proximity to wine country, you can choose from among an array of wine cellars and tasting rooms and indulge in local and imported brands. You'll find plenty of galleries here that feature historical and contemporary pieces from around the world, and the area offers numerous spots for photography. Start your visit at the visitors' bureau on the east side of the plaza. Use our Sonoma trip itinerary builder website to add Sonoma Plaza and other attractions to your Sonoma vacation plans.

  • Love the plaza, perfect place to picnic. Dogs aren't allowed which is a bummer, but it keeps the grounds chill and clean I guess. Tuesday night Market (May-Oct) is the best! Bring your picnic blanket and a bottle of wine and enjoy the festivities-- it is one of the best things to do in this sweet town. Give General Vallejo a kiss for me! 😘
  • A gorgeous park and surrounding area - we could have spent multiple days walking, playing, and enjoying this well-maintained public space. The trees are great for shape, especially for cool picnics or in the playgrounds. There is a small rose garden near the public bathrooms. Everything is relatively clean and very nice.
  • 2 stars because, I have lived out here my whole life. Good place but the people really need work on their environment, be more caring for others and not be so stuck up on one another. I love my local town its just i wish they cared about the people more than their money situation.
  • A charming city square; one that rivals the best of them! Huge shade trees and reflecting pools enchant young and old alike. Clean restrooms. Many nifty stores surround the park/square.
  • Beautiful and well manicured park in the center of town. Two playgrounds for the kids to play on and plenty of grass. Awesome food surrounding this central park location. Feels safe as well.
