Rideau Vineyard, Solvang

(4.5/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
Rideau Vineyard was founded in 1997 by New Orleans native Iris Rideau. Early on in the winery's inception, Iris Rideau decided to dedicate her estate vineyard entirely to Rhône varietals. She felt that Rhône wines were not only ideally suited to the Santa Ynez Valley AVA, but also instinctively felt that they were best suited to the Creole cuisine of her childhood.

Indeed, as the vines matured, and the first estate wines were produced, Iris soon began hosting a series of Creole-inspired dinners, with each dish paired with a Rhône varietal. The dinners were wildly successful, and soon became full-fledged winery events, attracting food and wine lovers from around the country. Today, Iris continues to host frequent events held at the winery grounds, pairing the food of her homeland with Rhône varietals.

  • The vineyard is a few miles outside of town but easy to get to with an Uber. The grounds were nice to explore and they offered two tasting menus. There was a small grill that had good flat breads. We ...  more »

  • Rideau Vineyard is one of our favorite places to visit. This is a small vineyard with delicious wines mostly of the Rhone varietals from southern France. A fine place to stop for a wine tasting or eve...  more »

  • Shay, Shay, Shay, that's all I need to say. But I will say more because he deserves it. One of the most well informed very knowledgable guides I've ever met. Shay is a HOOT!! His dry Irish humor keeps you laughing and well engaged. Just make sure to hold your glass by the stem, not the bowl...
  • We met Iris Rideau and her wonderful staff June 3, 2016. What a warm and welcoming group! We had a long conversation with Iris that felt like talking to an old friend. Nicki, who poured the wine, was a delightful young woman, obviously passionate about her job. We did not get the name of the male staffer, but he was terrific as well. And the wine!! The mourvedre' was our favorite. We bought bottles for friends we were meeting that weekend. Definitely a must stop - we went there at the suggestion of friends. It was one of our destinations and so worth it! At the end they hug you and say "welcome to the family."
  • Fantastic vineyard with great wine tasting. We didn't do the tour but have heard wonderful things. Staff is very kind whether you are a connoisseur or a beginner. Wonderful vibe.
  • Tour was very informative and the wine was delicious. I'm officially a wine connoisseur lol
  • I am normally quite positive on my reviews but was really disappointed with our visit. Wines were mediocre, staff were not very knowledgeable, tasting room wasn't much to see.
