  • Access to the park is free. The lake is big enough to explore leisurely over multiple visits but still small enough to do a full lap if you're in to setting personal records. The motor limit makes it great for kayaks and canoeing. Many boat ramps and drop points to choose from.
  • Some state parks are more about offering recreation than preserving the outdoors for exploration. This is one of the former. If you are stuck in Iowa and want to boat, paddle or swim on a sandy beach, this is a good spot. The park offers short, but limited hiking opportunities. There is camping. The primitive area costs only $6, which makes it a great spot to camp on a cross-country road trip. If you like disc golf or mountain biking nearby Sugarbush offers both.
  • A tight fit for our 33ft 5th Wheel (site 21). But, we made it. Nice park. Well kept. Might need another bathroom. The one gets pretty busy.
  • This is a nice place. The beach does not have any chairs to sleep on but it is not very crowded. You have to go early to take the best place.
  • There are several different areas and enterances to the park. One gets you to the raptor center and some small picnic areas. Another is the more formal enterance with the beach, hiking, boat rentals (which are pretty expensive) and camping. Then there is the primitive campground which is very nice and has Good fishing opportunities. All locations are very easy to get to via highway access.
