Beautiful drive, some little parking areas to take a brief walks, Saw deer, pelicans, and roadrunners.
A stopped on my way thru in August and found a rare Common Black Hawk. Not as exciting in Sept but that was ok.
Lots of birds. Magnificent morning fly in worth getting up early for. Great tours & guides. Driving loop in our car made it easy to see birds and wildlife from a bobcat following a coyote to a roadrunner,Informative tour guides. Plan to attend for the third time.
An awesome stop to, not only see some birds, but see some beautiful NM scenery. We really appreciated the variety of terrain, the knowledgeable park rangers, and the fact that it wasn't crowded. You can get some great pictures here while relaxing and enjoying the wildlife and scenery.
Beautiful place. Lots to see and do
They have a really nice visitor center that is friendly. The actual refuge is huge and you can see tons of birds when you visit during the right times of year/day.
It is a really peaceful place to go. A lot of different birds live there. I recommend to go at 5pm ish to watch the sunset.
