  • This is one of my all-time favorite National Wildlife refuges. They have a wonderful Wildlife Drive and great trails to hike that are very easy for elderly and young alike. The migration seasons are awe-inspiring and the amount of bird life is a delight. I always see at least one type of eagle and a lot of sandhill cranes and snow geese. The volunteers at The Visitor Center are enthusiastic and helpful and The Visitor Center is wonderful with clean bathrooms. The friends of The Refuge have a wonderful website which tells you what birds are being seen so you can decide when to visit. I highly recommend this Refuge.
  • This place is incredible if you go at the right time. Suggest visiting early morning or dusk. Wildlife is absolutely breathtaking.
  • Buetiful peaceful if your interested in that kinda stuff I went back awhile ago a full 3 miles of lake a birds and animals not bad great that it's right off interstate 25 south and close to Soccoro
  • Really fantastic place. Lots of birds and saw a few mammals including deer and coyote. Would come back!
  • Always an investing place to go birding and you can bird from your car if you decide not to walk any of the trails. When I was there a trail I wanted to walk was closed but there were alternative available that could be hiked. The ducks had headed north before I arrived and the ponds were being drained to to support the migrating wading birds that should be arriving shortly.
