  • The Bosque is truly a hidden treasure of New Mexico. Every year between October and March cranes, snow geese, Canadian geese and other birds flock to this area. There is a great visitor center. Best times to come are sunrise or sunset when you can catch large flights of the birds at the ponds just outside of the refuge. Make this a place to go at least once a year.
  • This is a regular stop for migrating cranes and snow geese, plus many other kinds of waterfowl. It gets more and more beautiful at sundown when flocks of birds fly over settling in for the night. If you're lucky you'll see a bald eagle! And there are plenty of deer, coyotes, wild pigs and other small wildlife to see.
  • It's magical! It's like a Jurassic Park with birds. The dirt roads are decent and facilities are clean. My favorite was a fluffy tail skunk strutting across the road.
  • What a wonderful place! I always find so many things out here to take pictures of. The wildlife is always abundant but even more so in the winter when the sandhill cranes are in the area. It is always peaceful here and i simply like to be here at any time of the year.
  • Visited here at the end of December, and the number of Sandhill Cranes was astonishing. I probably saw about 5,000 in an hour. It's an incredible experience to hear them calling out in a crazy chorus.
