  • I had a very nice 3 day visit in March 2017. The park itself isn't huge and the trails are a little lacking but the tall trees are a welcome scenery change from San Antonio. I stayed in lots 47 & 48 which I highly recommend. Both lots gave a direct view of the lake with 48 being the closest to the lake and the bigger of the two. A bathroom with showers is available. A fire box/grill, picnic table, trash pole and water spout are at every lot in that area. 47 had a large 12x12 tent pad that fit my 10x8 family tent very nicely. 48 did not have a sectioned tent pad but my 3x6 backpacking tent fit nicely under the trees and I had a lot of options for setting up my hammock. Both areas are shaded by huge trees, 48 more so. Very friendly rangers and the grounds are well groomed.
  • The mini-cabins at Buesher State Park are excellent- very comfortable to stay in. The trails are great and the trees around the park are amazing. Facilities like the restroom and showers need to be cleaned more often but other than that, it's a great park!
  • Trails were very clean and well kept. The hike itself is a lot of fun and not too challenging. Be aware that as of May 2017, half of the pine gulch loop is still closed due to fire damage.
  • Had a group campout here and we had a wonderful time. Beautiful lake. Campsites and bathrooms/showers are clean and well maintained. And campsites are spaced our enough that each feels private. Would definitely come back again for another visit.
  • We live in Bastrop and have mostly gone to lake bastrop but this is going to be our new spot! This park is so outstandingly beautiful! We just rented a cabin for one night but we will be back soon! It has a microwave and fridge which Bastrop doesn't have, and a little patio overlooking the water- which is also a lot nicer. The trees are so beautiful and kept the patio shaded all day. The cabin works so well since our family has some who like to camp in a tent and others who don't want to rough it so much. We hope to try the screened shelters once fall comes around. My kids who were griping about how bored they were going to be on the way there didn't want to leave! There aren't as many pines so we were able to walk bare footed on the path down to the water. There were so many cool moths and frogs and even deer! Just one of those amazing natural places!
