  • This is a well organised and well dispayed exhibition/ collection - but you need at least 2 visits to absorb it / see it all. Plenty to look at and learn.
  • The collections of Sheldon Jackson for more than a century, are housed in this museum. Valuable masks, clothing, wood carving and tools. This man has already asked the realised value of all he collected, so we still benefit. It is a circular room with large display cases.

  • Awesome collection of artifacts from Alaska. Well laid out with lots of info about the displays.
  • If you are touring Sitka, do not miss this museum. Our tour with Fantasy Cruises brought us here, and I bought the coziest, most beautiful beaded Athabascan slippers made of caribou hide with, seal and beaver trim. One of the artists was on hand the day we visited. There were inumerable carvings, jewelry, art and crafts to purchase - every item unique. The museum store clerk wrote the name and village of the slipper maker on our receipt. This museum turned out to be the source of the most authentic art and craft we saw on our whole cruise.
