#11 of 254 in Nature in Oregon
The largest state park in Oregon, Silver Falls State Park hosts mountain bikers, horseback riders, and hikers. The forest trails along Silver Creek are the setting for many films that take advantage of the wild woods. The Trail of Ten Falls, otherwise known as Canyon Trail, follows the creek and passes by ten waterfalls. South Falls is the most popular set of waterfalls, but the highest cascade is the 54 m (178 ft) tall Double Falls. • Silver Falls is a must stop for hikers, non-hikers, picnickers, families, campers, and history buffs. The main fall is easily accessible or take a hike or a section of the hike through the canyon. Per...  more »

  • I love Silver Falls! It's beautiful and has a swim area that goes up to your waist which is perfect. It's a great place to go hiking take pictures, and to go see nature. They have restrooms and different places to buy food before you go on the trails which is convenient and nice. I try to go every year and I always have a blast plus it's great exercise! Be careful on the trails, wear good shoes that don't slip because all year long even on the hot days they are slippery and wet and can be dangerous walking up or down steep muddy trails.
  • I was in such awe and amazement when I was hiking through here! There are so many different beautiful waterfalls and some you can even walk behind. Everything is so Lush and green and there's plenty of shade throughout the hike. There is several different bridges that are super cute and fun! I took so many pictures that it took several days for me to make my way through all of them to edit and post. There is a really cute cabin Cafe in the beginning that has snacks and food and drink options. You can do a half Loop or the full loop. The full loop was definitely worth doing if you are up for it! I'm so so glad I had the time to do the whole thing!
  • Great hike! 10 Falls Trail was around 8 miles round trip. Started at North Falls parking lot. Ate lunch at the lodge. Finished the hike up on the Rim trail. Falls weren't as full as they are in early spring but they still gave stellar views. If you haven't hiked this trail, I highly recommended it! The trail is well kept and the views simply can't be beat!
  • The falls, gorgeous. The paths, mostly good, some washed out in dire need of gravel and traction. The care, not so great. I was SO disappointed to make my second trip to Silver Falls recently and find that the park was really quite unkempt. (I preface my dog comment by saying that I LOVE dogs, but they aren't allowed on trails because they can disturb the natural habitat, hurt native animals and plants, infect the environment with foreign feces, etc. and on and on and on.) There was not one or two dogs in the park that day but almost EVERY person had a dog on the trail. Lots of dogs mean lots of dog poop. NOT a fun hiking experience. The NO DOGS on trails isn't an option, it is a rule. It is really disappointing to see that they don't have anyone to monitor that. I also don't mind if people want to smoke weed; that is cool. But on a weekend, during the day, in a state park...where families are with kids? Not cool. The garbage, the state of the bathrooms and the general ICK of the park was sad. Why is the state not taking better care of this park? The falls are all beautiful, but if people can't respect the trails and the rules and take care of the beauty, we will lost it all.
  • Awesomely beautiful canyon and waterfalls in an idyllic Cascade forest setting. The falls loop trail gets a good deal of traffic on summer weekends. Last time I was there, I waited about twenty minutes to get up a set of stairs at the south end of the park. I suggest a visit in the off season, when there will be more water going over the falls anyway. The other trails in the park, on the south side of the main road, are also beautiful and much more tranquil.
