  • I served as a missile systems analyst on the Hound Dog AGM 28 B at Kincheloe AFB, Michigan in the early 60s. It was a treat to see a B 52G, a Hound Dog, and a KC 135 from that era. As a missile systems analyst I flew on training flights whenever a B52 carried a pair of Dogs. Seeing midair refueling exercises from the IP seat on the 52 is an exciting memory. It looked as tho you could reach out and touch the KC 135.
  • You can see all airplanes even when the museum is closed. They have a lot of airplanes for example one Blackbird and two B52 bombers.
  • We drove 2 hours and they wouldn't let us in because of the rain chances. Held us at the gate for 30 mins then asked us to leave.
  • Very cool aircraft on display outside. If you love reading all the fact sheets in front of each plane you can spend an hour wondering amongst the planes. The inside displays were locked on a Saturday afternoon I was there even well before close. The guard gate didn't warn me of it or anything. No sign saying why the inside wasn't open either. If there's a number call before. Remember to go in the North Gate on North Gate Rd if you don't have base credentials. Tell the Military Personnel at the gate you're going to the museum(immediately inside the gate on your left) and they'll have you pull over and search your car by opening all four doors and the trunk. Took 5 mins to do that, easy process but not optional.
  • I personally crewed the KC-135 that is there. It hurt my heart to see her in that condition. Wondering why her tail number was recently changed. She was 3137 when she was put there.
