  • Funk's Grove is a great place to take a break from driving. It's a small stop on the Route. There are colorful chairs to relax in. The small store sells maple sirup, honey, and a few Route 66 souvenir...  more »
  • Stopped because of a road sign on Route 66. Very glad I did. Grade B syrup is getting hard to find. Tends to be darker and have more of a Maple flavor. Love it

  • Worthwhile stop on the historic Route 66. Get some tasty souvenirs! You can see the syrup collection bin sitting covered next to the great big maple tree. Variety of sizes to choose from and honey from a nearby apiary. Friendly owners with a beautiful watchdog!
  • Great stop when traveling route 66 thru Illinois wonderful product
  • fun stop for yummy syrup and a mini - look at how it's produced.
  • After the village of Shirley, this charming village was founded in 1825 by Isaac and Absalom Funk, who came to the region in 1824. Isaac Funk, with his lawyer and friend Abraham Lincoln, were assigned to deflect the Chicago & Alton Railroad, which was to go to Peoria. Produced there since 1891 the famous Maple, the Mapple Syrup, so good syrup on pancakes or the waffles. The Funks Grove Sugar House is a traditional farm, which offers its maple syrup, is held by the couple Debbie and Mike Funk but you also have the possibility to visit the Sugar Grove Nature Center, which is located just before on the right side of the road. We could not visit it because we arrived too late, it was already closed. 5257 Historic U.S. 66, on your left is leaving Shirley.
