  • 10 years ago I would have rated the Shipshewana flea market five stars. Today I'm lucky to write them 2 Stars. Very few vendors. Large areas of open space where vendors used to be. Most of the items are all the same from both to booth. One vendor owns many Booths . The vendors that I spoke to said the ownership of Shipshewana has gotten very greedy and thought that's the reason the people don't come any longer. It's a shame to see a Mainstay of our wonderful County in such poor management.
  • This review is for the restaurant: We were there a year ago and it was much better. This year the prices have gone up! Do not order the grilled chicken sandwich or the grilled chicken with mushroom gravy on top. Both were chard with hamburger Grill remains. Yuck!! We should have sent it back but we were too hungry to wait any longer. The lemonade was warm with a couple ice cubes on top. We complained about our meals the waitress said she would tell the manager but the manager never came over to see us. Too bad for them won't be back.
  • Have enjoyed the flea market for 15 years until I saw the elephant kept in an approximate 60' circular tent and being forced to give rides to people on July 5 and 6. The isolated keeping and use of this magnificent animal for rides--around and around in the circle it went--with keeper shoving hay into its mouth when it was still sickened many in attendance. The family vacation mood was ruined for us and we left the market within minutes even though we hadn't finished shopping. My teens have taken it upon themselves to photograph the scene and transport, which looked like a glorified horse trailer, and contact multiple welfare organizations. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not book this again.
  • Shipshewana Flea Market is a "must-do" for area visitors. It's huge! I've watched it grow from when it was just a little row of tables selling antiques. On hot days, it's VERY hot there in the sun, but they've done a good job of adding concession/food stands as well as a few places where you can just sit in the shade. Bathrooms are a little less frequent, but certainly available with plenty of stalls. I love the produce and plant aisles...wonderful in-season fruit and beautiful annuals and perennials available. Also, don't miss the home-made ice cream, which is churned via a gas-powered engine...the guys enjoy standing and watching that!
  • This used to be so much nicer. Now it's cheap dollar store stuff and stuff from China for the most part. Many things you can get cheaper on amazon. The homemade things are still awesome and worth seeing and buying.
