Shingletown has a history of logging large timber, including pine, fir and cedar. It is also known as "The Gateway to Lassen".GeographyShingletown is located at in Northern California, near Lassen Volcanic National Park.According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 24.7sqmi, of which 24.7sqmi is land and 0.1sqmi is water.The forests around Shingletown are home to the Shasta clarkia a rare subspecies of Clarkia borealis, a flowering plant in the evening primrose family.ClimateThis region experiences warm and dry summers, with no average monthly temperatures above 71.6 °F. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Shingletown has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate, abbreviated "Csb" on climate maps.
