  • If you're driving along Skyline Drive, Skyland is good stop. There's a lodge with a restaurant but also a great place to have a picnic too (the view is great!). There are restrooms and several trails ...  more »

  • It was on our bucket list to see the FULL Blue Ridge Parkway, beginning on the Shenandoah National Park side at mile marker zero on Skyline Drive. So, we came and began our journey here. I must say it...  more »

  • We stayed here mid November and it was a great stay. The views were fantastic, it was fun knowing you were on the mountain/in the woods but in nice lodging at the same time. The greatest part was sitting on the balcony over looking the valley. The staff was very friendly, however the menu in the main dining area was very limited and the food was kind of bland. The bar side had some more fun food items and was very nice as well. We will definitely return for more stays.
  • Heating was great in a wintery March 2018, had all the amenities one would need including a hair-dryer, lotion and coffee. The Shenandoah was the best the view was amazing off the cliff compared to other cabins and i would recommend this cabin if you can. Grab n go lunch packets were awesome while going hiking and the rooms are comfy free of bugs and had TV service and you can come out sit on your porch/balcony and look at the stars at night. Romantic!.
  • PROS: The location cannot be beat- we were able to catch my birthday sunrise from the East lookout just south of Skyland, and the next morning travel north the the next one to catch that sunrise. If you are interested in sunsets, there are also two lookouts close by both north and south of the resort that make you feel as if you are on the edge of the world. Although the clouds rolled in before the sun could set, it was still a super awesome experience. The lady cleaning for our cabin was so sweet and nice. Checkout time was fast approaching and I still hadn't had a chance to wash/dry my hair- she basically said to go for it and she would do our room last. Forever grateful for that small kindness. CONS: the mountainside is protected area, so all the vegetation cannot be cut down- the Skyland view was being blocked because of this, especially near our cabin. Onsite dining was lacking and overall overpriced. No fridge in the room. Apparently the walls are *super* thin: we found out upon late check-in that there was a noise restriction at a certain time so there went my chance to wash and dry my hair that night. The cabin we were assigned was tucked away and could not be seen from the road...add in the lack of light, and we got totally turned around even with the map (that walking path line did not translate to us). There was virtually no parking near the cabin as we arrived very late at night.
  • It's a great place to visit. It's kind of an anchor for your visit to the drive. There are good, real bathroom facilities which is nice to have after enjoying the scenery for a while. The food is pretty good, but the service can be painfully slow, and they restaurant is only open certain hours. The gift shop is the best, offering branded items as well as locally made crafts. Make sure to walk around the property and enjoy.
  • I have mixed feelings when I think of the two nights I spent at Skyland Resort. First off, it's right in the middle of Shenandoah National Park. This is Skylands top draw and the main reason I gave it a 3 instead of a 2. My room was semi-clean. There were cobwebs in the ceiling and large spider with a nest built on the inside of the window blind. My bathroom was plagued with large millipedes (they kept coming from somewhere, i left a wet shirt on the bathroom floor as I got dinner and there were 2 millipedes on it when I got back). My ice bucket and the 2 plastic cups in the tray were sitting in an inch of water and there were hairs in the sink. The food here is OVERPRICED! 15 bucks for a hamburger, then you have the tip, maybe some drinks and it adds up. It's a crime, they aren't in the middle of nowhere, they are an hour from a number of towns. There's no reason to charge so much for so-so food other then that they can and there's nothing people can do about it without driving back down the mountain.
