The Above & Beyond Children's Museum is a children's museum in downtown Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The museum has 3 floors of hands-on exhibits in over 10,000 feet of floor space. The museum is a member of the Association of Children's Museums.HistoryThe museum opened in 1998 and the window painting by volunteers was honored as a Make A Difference Day winner by USA Weekend. The museum has been struggling to stay current on its mortgage. The museum was $20,000 in debt in the summer of 2007, so it attempted to sell a vacant part of its lot to the City of Sheboygan for $10,000. A bank has a lien on the property, so the transaction has not taken place as of October 2007. The museum then partnered with the Sheboygan Area School District to create a Reusable Resource Center located in the lower floor of the museum. The center holds donated furniture and other resources, which teachers and parents will be able to use for hands-on lessons.

  • Easily a half day of fun with the kids. Lots of things to do inside and walk the community garden outside. Love the circus display and the ship sailing trough the third floor.
  • Four levels of fun with a little bit of everything. My two year old and four year old find most of the activities fun and interesting. May be a little too basic for older children. If you plan on visiting a few times within a year, definitely get a membership which allows unlimited admission for your entire family for a full year from purchase.
  • This museum is amazing!! They put on, and offer wonderful events and opportunities for families with special needs! My family drives an hour every 2nd Monday of the month to take advantage of their generosity, and my kids LOVE to come to this museum! As a mother of twin boys both affected by autism, I appreciate so very much the fact that this museum holds these events exclusively for the special needs population, and they make accommodations that allows families to attend an event they probably wouldn't be able to without their efforts.
  • Very interesting place, but at $6 per person, it might be a little much until your toddlers start walking
  • Nice play areas for kids. This is definitely for grade school kids. There is a grocery store play area, a fire truck with costumes, a Dr. Office area and more.
  • Went for a bday party, kids had fun!
