Hillside Winery, Sevierville

4.1
#3 of 24 in Wineries in Tennessee
You might not expect a slice of Italy in Tennessee, but you'll find one at Hillside Winery, which specializes in Italian-style and sparkling wines. Take a tour to learn about the winemaking process, from crushing the fruit to bottling the finished wine. Then experience a tasting session with the wines produced on site, such as the bubbly muscadine frizzante, the dry Zinfandel, the semisweet raspberry blush, and the sweet Vino rosso. You can purchase wine at the store along with other local produce, such as Sweetwater Valley cheeses and sausages. • This was our last stop on the wine trail and by far our favorite! The service was great, special thanks to Kevin!  more »
  • This is our first stop on the wine trail for this trip. Kate is a wonderful wine slinger. She told us her favorite was Don Rosso. If you go by here, have her do your tasting. She's amazing!  more »
  • Hillside was our third winery we had visited in the area but was by far the best. While the other wineries were very impersonal and uninformative with their wine pourers, we were instantly welcomed in...  more »

  • Um can I give them more stars? We went in for a tasting and the service was absolutely amazing! Our group ended up getting several bottles.
  • This is the best winery in the area, hands down, no questions asked! I've been here a couple of times for part of the wine tour (which I highly recommend) and every time I've had an absolute blast! The people working here are amazing and really love their jobs! It's a great relief. The people doing the tastings know what they're talking about and genuinely want to have a conversation with you. They have no limits on how many varieties you want to try either. They also have a shop that has the cutest wine type accessories. I'm a fan of fruitier and semi sweet wines, and its hard to choose what to buy. Buy a 3 pack for yourself or split it between others in your group and it'll be cheaper. Also be prepared with a driver as they don't skimp on the samples, so you can actually enjoy and fully taste the wine. I recommend trying the Black and Blue, no matter your wine preference. It's unique and interesting in a very good way!
  • My sister and I started a road trip yesterday morning to go see our sister in MO. We started our trip in South Carolina and decided that we would stop in Sevierville, TN to try out Hillside Winery. We are so glad that we did. We had Kev as our Sommelier and we loved every minute of it. He was just fabulous. He went above and beyond to create an experience for us as we were on our spontaneous road trip. He laughed and connected with us on so many different levels. We went out of there with 6 bottles of wine and 2 bags of the slushy. :) We really wanted the Hillside Tour Glasses but Kev said we had to earn our doctorate and continue our "Grizwald" trip to 2 more winery's to get those glasses. After saying goodbye to our new friend, off we went. The other two experiences did not come close to our experience at Hillside. The individuals that assisted us at the other two winery's just did not know how to connect with people very well and you could tell was just a job. Hey Kev, we got our glasses and off went to Williamstown to see the Arc Encounter and who knows where our trip will take us. Thank you.
  • This is usually the second stop for us on the wine trail. We are members of the wine club so we get to try all the wines on the list. We also make our own wine and like to find a flavor that we like and try to duplicate them. For that reason ALL wineries will get a minimum of 4 stars from me. They have dry, semi sweet, sweet, bubbly, and a frozen mix to choose from. I think they can only let you have 6 samples per person so choose your samples based on your pallet preference. They also have some neat items for sale in there store so check them out. If you like a bubbly wine you must try the bubbly muscadine they have here. It's the best bubbly I have found. Be sure to get your trail card stamped and don't leave it on the counter when you leave!! Now on to the Apple Barn!!!!
  • Loved many of the wines! Ordered from home several times. My new favorite winery in Tennessee.
