If you love ancient history and off-roading a bit to get there, go check out these ruins. Amazing how ingenious the ancient natives were to build these structures and prosper. We toured the site with ...  more »

We rented ATVs for our trip to Honanki, with two 10 year-olds. I'll agree with some of the other postings that you don't need to take a jeep tour, or rent ATVs to get there. The road will be paved som...  more »

A National Heritage site the Honanki Ruins are special. A three quarter of a mile easy hike, you see many petroglyfs, and ruins of the Indian dwellers. A small but concentrated site. Down a dirt grave...  more »

Access to the cliff dwellings is only open until 3pm! Keep that in mind if you plan to go. The forest road leading here is a pretty rough dirt road in several places, but can be navigated by regular passenger cars. It just won't be very good for your car. Several alternatives exist: Pink Jeep Tours which also seem to maintain/operate this site or rent from any of the "drive yourself" off road rental places around Sedona. We usually stop here with a rented Barlow's Jeep on the way to the Outlaw Trail loop. The ruins themselves are rather minimalistic and I always admire how the Pink Jeep guides can spin that into an hour long tour with stories. Takes a bit of knowledge. One of the high points for me is that this is still a freely accessible site, no guides required and instead relying on people to realize they are walking on ancient land. A very different experience from places like Montezuma Castle and something you would have to hike to in many other cases.

Throughly enjoyed our visit to the ruins. The staff were very nice and the guides made the trip an educational experience. The hike was very short... maybe a half mile from the parking area. I recommend sneakers.

This hike is family friendly and much better than the Palatki Site. This place gives you free roam while the other place gives you a guided tour and treats you like a little kid all while their knowledge is text book. They didn't even know of 4 of the ruins I've found in the area. Go here and save your patience if your experienced in hiking in this area and have knowledge of dwellings.

We were on a Jeep tour to see this heritage site. The tour guide point out many things at the site we would have missed. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Well preserved, amazing to see. Closes at 3pm sharp which they do not tell you if you take one of the tours from town.
