4.9/5 based on 3,600+ reviews on the web
Soak in the dramatic scenery of red desert hills and endless blue sky while hiking at Cathedral Rock. One of the state’s most iconic landmarks, the sandstone rock formation takes the shape of a cathedral perched majestically above the rest of the landscape. Wind through the rock’s three saddles, or gaps, on the short but steep 2.4 km (1.5 mi) hike. Be sure to carry extra water and wear sturdy hiking shoes with you as the trail is rigorous in certain places. With our international travel planner, Sedona attractions like Cathedral Rock can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Great hike but a lot of climbing at the top. Prepare to use your hands and knees. Once you are up there the views are amazing. Well marked and maintained.
  • This was a wonderful outing for us. The upward travel was a moderate trail with a few tough spots. The view is completely worth it.
  • Very beautiful. Especially the walk up to it is so cool. But good shoes, plenty of water and food is required. Walk is sometimes very steep. For beginner, you can not is really to do, but take your time. Such a nice view if you're there.
