  • This flagship store has everyhting for the outdoors activities, including a climbing mountain. Good for shopping (not the cheapest) and for inspiration.  more »
  • This review is for the climbing pinnacle not the store. I booked a climbing session for my kids for 30 mins ($30) at REI because they have been wanting to go rock climbing and what better place to do ...  more »
  • From pictures, I thought this was somewhere in the hills but it's actually in the city. There's large Victornix watches hanging from the beams with the time at Mt Rainer and Mt Everest, to name a few....  more »

  • Though not exactly an apples to apples comparison, this is hands down the most awesome REI store I've been to. They have by far the largest selection of any other store in the West Coast, and the coolest layout. The constant is the friendly and knowledgeable staff that is ready to help make your shopping experience that much better. If you're in the area, I'd recommend stopping by even if it's only to check out the place, though chances are, you'll leave with another piece of quality gear or expert advise for your next adventure.
  • A big store with a lot of choices for gear, but it's quite obvious that it is becoming more and more orientated towards the local SLU tech-workers market. For example, the biking section is very limited to mainly "commuter style" bikes, the clothing and footwear sections are very directed towards day/weekend hikers (a disproportionate number of day hiking boots/day hiking packs compared to full camping gear), and any seasonal equipment such as ski gear is completely non existent from early spring (which seems odd considering such a large number of Seattle locals are still skiing/ski-touring at this time of year). The service is decent, and there are still a number of enthusiastic employees who have decent knowledge of outdoor equipment. However, I still kind of expected more from a flagship store of such a large outdoor equipment supplier.
  • Had a wonderful experience buying a bike, test riding it and customizing it with accessories. William was an outstanding sales rep and made the entire process painless and enjoyable. The bike workshop was a little busy but accurate with their time commitments.
  • The very best REI location. The mountain bike test area in front is neat. HUGE clearance section. Free parking all day Sunday and an hour free on the other days. Every staff member who helped us knew where to find what we were looking for. Special shoutout to Justin who picked out new hiking and trail running shoes for me and my husband.
  • Attractive and interesting lay out. Mountain bike test track and huge climbing wall on premises.. Amazing selection of multisport clothing and supplies. National park rangers are available to answer questions.

Where to stay in Seattle

Famous for its architecture, Seattle's downtown area features a range of lodging options, including high-end hotels offering expensive rooms with views over Elliott Bay. Remember that despite their prices, many hotels in this waterfront district provide rather small rooms. If you need more space but don't want to break the bank, head out of downtown to some of the city's outlying neighborhoods. Seattle's diverse suburbs offer affordable bed and breakfasts, providing you with all the comforts of home and allowing you to see what local life is really like.
