Museum of History & Industry, Seattle

#6 of 26 in Museums in Seattle
Discover for yourself the history and tradition of Seattle and the American Northwest at Museum of History & Industry. Inside the museum you'll find one of the most comprehensive collections of artifacts in the whole region. See the first Boeing commercial plane, take a look through the original World War II submarine periscope, and travel through Seattle's history from the city's beginnings to the modern age. In addition to the permanent displays, which show just a fraction of its collection, the museum regularly sets up themed exhibits (look up the schedule online before you arrive). The museum is easily accessible via public transportation, and there is also designated parking for visitors who arrive by car, as well as the historical wharf for those who prefer to sail in. • An amazing museum! I spent a solid 3 hours there and barely made a dent in the exhibits. Extremely well crafted exhibits, well researched and on target to the Seattle area. Extremely interesting displays and often highly interactive. I would've given it 5 full stars but the admission process of $20 a person is a tad bit exorbitant. Definitely will be back... Maybe I can find a Groupon or other deal?
  • We especially liked the World War 1 display and gaining a new understanding of events that were happening in the world at that time. They have so many fun interactive displays and videos as well as photographs and information to read about the people and events that were important to the time. Enjoyed being down by the water and just having time to take in the displays on everything from the Seattle Fire to Old growth forests and history of the world.
  • Simply WONDERFUL!!! Didn't think I would spend hours there when I discovered it by accident walking along the lake. We regret leaving that place and will revisit again and again. The staffs and volunteers were extremely friendly and helpful! I would recommend a visit there to anyone!
  • We really enjoyed this museum. Well organized, excellent interactive exhibits and short films. Later the same day we went to the museum of pop culture. We hated that and only spent about 20 minutes there. The MOHAI is by far better!
  • Fantastic museum which was very informative. They have a little bit of everything and the majority of industry that were highly successful in the Seattle area. You need more than a few hours if you truly want to experience the museum in its entirety.
