One of Seattle's more unusual tourist attractions, Fremont Troll hides out under the Aurora Bridge. The giant stone sculpture of a troll eating a full-size Volkswagen Beetle was created by a team of local artists led by sculptor Steve Badanes. The mixed-media artwork is made of rebar steel, wire, and reinforced concrete. Though you can have your picture taken standing next to the sculpture, you can also climb on top of it and take a look at its one good eye, made from an ordinary hubcap. Fremont Troll Reviews

Stopped by while exploring the city. It was a cool place to see, great photo op. Wish there was a little more detail to the history of the site. If in the area I would suggest to see it. more »

We were told about this so found it on Google Maps. A bit hard to drive to but worth 5 minutes to go by. A surprising site, as you can see by the pictures on this site. Perversely enjoyable. more »

Seattle has a lot that is kind of quirky, unique, and interesting, beyond just the inhabitants. The Fremont Troll is a good example of how to draw attention to an otherwise unremarkable bridge foundat... more »

Fun local art! When our friends asked if we'd seen the troll under the bridge, I wasn't sure what to expect. This is exactly that - a troll under the bridge. He's completely delightful, and while we were there (about 10 minutes, we had to get on the road) a ton of other people came up to visit, too. Just a giant stone statue...but well worth stopping by. I have a feeling the folks in the neighborhood don't love all the extra traffic - many people walked up the hill but there were quite a few cars, too. This is just a bridge-end in a residential area, so if you can find a way to walk up, the locals would probably appreciate it. There's not really anywhere to park.

Great idea for fun under the bridge. Travelers from all around the world come and take a picture in front of this troll. It is in an Eclectic neighborhood that is easy to get to and out of. The kids will enjoy it and so will all the adults

I bring my tourist friends here bc everyone knows about the Space Needle and Pike Place, but this is one of the under the radar things that is really fun and unique. It's also a quick drive to Gasworks Park for some great photo ops. Also Fremont has some great eating spots so this is all centrally located to all of that.

The Fremont Troll is a landmark of Seattle, and a really fun stop in a cool area. Always nice to have some big sculptural art around, and this is a great, timeless choice. Well worth a stop and a bunch of photos -- don't miss it if you're in the area.

This is a great hidden treasure of Seattle. It’s worth the trip to visit, as you’ll see nothing like it anywhere else, and is a perfect spot for a unique Seattle photo! It’s a great stop for kids as they are able to climb the troll. The city is full of unique public art installations, like the Guy Wall in Pike’s Market or the Wall of Death hidden under another city bridge! If you’re in the area it’s worth a visit!
