  • If you have a car when touring Seattle, find this park, a short distance north of the downtown area. While the park itself is pretty, the views from the beach of the sound and Olympics are wonderful. ...  more »
  • Our last stop before leaving Seattle and it did not disappoint. Plenty of picnic tables up the hill and a few down closer to the water. Saw a few walking trails but didn’t have much time to explore. G...  more »
  • On the 4th of July my family came to this park around 11:30am for a hike. We brought our dog (labrador) and hiked from the first parking lot down to the beach end. The park is actually small compared ...  more »

  • It was a beautiful sunny day in mid February and this was our first visit to this Seattle park. It was delightful, filled with everything natural that is Northwest. The small strip of beach was pleasant and on the day we visited.there was a stiff north wind blowing so there whitecap waves out on Puget Sound, gorgeous and a perfect view of the snow capped Olympics mountains. Later, on our way out we visited the demonstration Garden located at the park entrance which was very informative and appeared to be loaded with programs centered around Community involvement. One mark against the visit were the few dog owners that allowed their dogs to be out without leashes and I wouldn't mind seeing rules on pet restrictions on the beach enforced.
  • By far my favourite beach in the Seattle area. Lots of exploring under rocks during low tide. Super fun bridge right over train tracks, feels like the train is only a few feet under you! Super fun playground with awesome salmon slide.
  • Excellent quiet place to get away without going out of the city. We were able to walk through all of it in under 2 hours. Will definitely be coming back as It's so tranquil.
  • Carkeek is one of the best spots in Seattle. Yes, there is a beach. Yes, there is a cool overlook and a playground and lots of room for picnics and gatherings. And! Don't forget, there are a ton of trails. I didn't discover these for a few years after I started going to Carkeek. But there are so fun. You feel like you are not in the city. Perhaps steer clear of the park and trails after dark - it is not uncommon to find the remnants of homeless camps there.
  • These are my favorite running trails in the city and some of the uphill climbs are pretty challenging. Particularly along the North and South bluffs overlooking the Puget Sound. I always bring my dog with me and we can easily do 4 or 5 miles and climb over 1000ft and still not have hit every trail. The only downside to Carkeek is the trails can get pretty crowded on nice summer days, or on holidays even in the middle of the winter, and I'll constantly have to slow down or walk to get around large groups of families and kids. The beach is pretty sweet too, but very rocky.
