Lots of farm fresh vegetables, fruit and meat. Also fresh flowers, baked goods, cheeses, wood fired pizza, wine and brews. Some beautiful handmade jewelry and pottery plus several sidewalk musicians and entertainers. Very nice market.

Ballard Farmers market is one of the best farmers markets in Seattle. It has a huge selection of vendors all year round (it is most busy on a nice day though so if you want to shop without crowds go in January or February). You can find almost all of your weekly household shopping items there besides cleaning products and toiletries (but there is a soap vendor so you may even be able to get that).

Lots of everything. You can buy what you need to make your meals and trust that your money is going to solid people in exchange for great stuff. The dips the people here make are fantastic.

Good people and dog watching. Lots of produce stalls to choose from as well as hot lunch options. Love the Hama Hama oyster sliders.

Big-ish year-round farmer's market with an excellent selection of vendors. I'm a big fan of Harbor Herbalist teas and Loki salmon, and the fresh-made mini donuts are a treat.

Where to stay in Seattle

Famous for its architecture, Seattle's downtown area features a range of lodging options, including high-end hotels offering expensive rooms with views over Elliott Bay. Remember that despite their prices, many hotels in this waterfront district provide rather small rooms. If you need more space but don't want to break the bank, head out of downtown to some of the city's outlying neighborhoods. Seattle's diverse suburbs offer affordable bed and breakfasts, providing you with all the comforts of home and allowing you to see what local life is really like.
