  • Loved that there were ups, downs and flat land. Beautiful scenery. Lots of rock formations to imagine shapes in. Great hike!
  • I hiked up the Tom Thumb Trail today (11/25) to work off some of the Thanksgiving meal...ha. I have not been on this trail for about 9 months due to a foot injury so sure felt great to be back. I arri...  more »
  • I did this hike alone and didn't feel nervous or scared. I did have an encounter with the Teddy Bear Cholla which was not fun - stay away from those plants! Nothing really special about the hike but d...  more »

  • Great, easy hike with some beautiful views. Be aware that this hike is completely exposed so bring plenty of water and wear a hat for some shade. Some parts of the trail are slippery so take your time. I liked that this trail is very well attended so there's lots of fun people to meet along the way.
  • If you're looking for an awesome hike/trail run without all the people, come here! It's usually out of the way for people, so it's rare to see more than 10 people here at a time. On average, I run into 3 people the whole time I'm there. It's a trek to get out here, but it's totally worth it. You're so removed from the city and any noise that you feel like you're in a completely different area. Once you make it to the top, the views are incredible. There are so many trails you can choose from, at the start. There are also several trails to choose from once you're at the top too. I have yet to try every trail! It's a great place to watch the sunset. Just be sure to bring a headlamp! And warm clothes on the colder days, because it tends to be windy at the top and that wind chill is CCCOOOLLLDDD! If you actually hike up to Tom's Thumb, it's a moderate to difficult hike. Once you're at the top there are several difficulty level trails you can choose from. If you're not wanting to hike Tom's Thumb, you can choose from a variety of flatter hikes that have trails heads that start from the parking lot!
  • Great place with plenty of parking and bathroom facilities, no water on the trailhead or nearby so come prepared. Kid friendly hike with a few steep hills and loose rocks but super fun and great views all throughout ... touch the thumb for good luck! Enjoy!
  • Tough hike with strenuous switch backs all the way up. The incline can be pretty intense too. Great views once at the top :)
  • The trailhead has an ample parking space. Gorgeous facility
