Bowcraft Amusement Park, Scotch Plains

Bowcraft Amusement Park or Bowcraft Playland is a small amusement park located on U.S. Route 22 West in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Catering to families, it contains rides appropriate for both children and adults. Bowcraft Amusement Park is open weekends from May through October and daily June through Labor Day.

The park's history dates back to 1946, when an archery and skiing enthusiast named Ted Miller opened a small archery and ski equipment store, complete with a small ski slope on-site, and named it Bowcraft Park.

In the 1980s, the park included a miniature golf course, which was eventually removed to make room for an overall expansion of both the park itself and the parking area.

The park offers a choice between purchasing tickets for individual rides, or an all-inclusive \"Fun-Pass\" which gives the ticket holder unlimited riding.

  • Small, roadside amusement park that's a decent size for small children, but not necessarily a 'destination'-type place. Rides are fine, but not all operating on the summer weeknight we went. We paid a...  more »
  • This place is ok for kids under I would say 8 years old. This place needs a complete re-haul to make it feel welcoming, all of the statues around the park are chipped and in need of a new paint job, t...  more »
  • I had my grandchildren for the weekend and wanted to take them someplace fun. Instead of bucking the traffic on the Parkway to go down the shore, I took them to Bowcraft. The last time I was at Bowcra...  more »
  • Nice amusement park for little ones. Really affordable summer bites special. $15 unlimited rides after 4pm. Love it. Fun on a budget.
  • For the local area it's the best thing we've got. I've went there when I was little with my cousin a lot and we've had great memories there that can't be replaced. Definitely a fun day for little kids, and a price that can't be matched.
  • This place is SPECTACULAR!! I know a lot of people don't like Bowcraft but they were expecting Sixflags. One person even said that they were expecting a sixflags type place. Even though it is a bit old fashioned it has a nice touch. They definitely need more staffing members but other than that the staff is very nice some times the even bend the rules a little. Like... if you're not 48 inches and you're 45 say they'll still let you go on the ride. Bowcraft is really clean and they have a wide variety of different foods. They lots of different rides but really all are for little kids. (Under ages 12 maybe) There are little crowds and longest wait for a line is maybe 5 minutes. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!! :D :D:D
  • I have a 25 y/o daughter with autism and this is her favorite place. Rides are the perfect size for her to ride alone, not too big, not too small (tilt a whirl, scrambler, himalaya (music express), coaster, etc.). Never a line to ride, even when crowded with camps. Don't have to walk for miles to get to each ride. Food is expensive, like anywhere else you go, but at least it's pretty good.
  • Good place to take out kids for 3-4 Hrs. Better to go on Friday evening and get unlimited ride access by buying the band.
