  • We made our reservations a year out and snapped up the last two spots. With views overlooking Lake Superior, I can totally see why. It is just stunning and we can't wait to start hiking.  more »
  • Went hiking here in late May. Great hiking trails and places to just hang out on the rocks by the river. Definitely worth the stop to explore!  more »
  • really nice park, with excellent scenery. enjoyed hiking around the gorge area and then farther out and back, got to see nice falls, and excellent views of lake superior. we hiked about a 4 mile loop  more »

  • I wouldn't call Temperance River the crown jewel of state parks in the North Shore, but its waterfalls are worth a stop. Camping near the beach is a perfect place to stay. It's one of the closest places to camp near the big lake. Sunrise is good here during winter and works well for photography from September through April. During the summer, it rises too far inland. When doing the waterfall hike make sure to continue past the top of the first canyon area about a mile along the flats of the river to the second canyon. It's more photogenic.
  • Great distances between campsites. Clean and quiet. Awesome river trails. We spent two nights here in mid April and it was a great time. My only complaint would be a lack of self serve fire wood. So...Bring your own (DNR approved of course) if you are early in the season.
  • If you are looking for a challenging hike, go to the high falls. Lots of stairs and mud but the view is worth it! Had the weather been really nice out, it would have been awesome!
  • Beautiful bay with the river flowing into Lake Superior. Great rock hunting along the shore.
  • Beautiful trails and amazing access to the river and Lake Superior. Go, hike, enjoy!
