The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Savannah

4.8
Georgia's oldest Catholic church, The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist sits in the downtown district of Savannah, an area steeped in rich history and culture. Completed in 1876, this Gothic-style building features two twin spires, making it an easily recognizable landmark on the city's skyline. • When I am in Savannah visiting my scad student, we attend 10am mass at the Cathedral. I have loved mass along with the gorgeous architecture and rich colors and beautiful religious art. I can not help but mention the wonderful choir and beautiful music the choir director chooses. I can maybe only attend mass at St John Cathedral 4-5 times a year and it is a spectacular experience.
  • Beautiful church! Lots of great info from 15 min speech at the front of the church. Highly recommend visiting.
  • Wonderful paintings, arching ceilings, a beautiful cathedral. The choir at 10am Sunday mass was great.
  • Beautiful cathedral- make sure that you don't come during Mass times if you want to sightsee in the church.
  • God deserves the best man can offer, what a awe inspiring place to praise and honor our Creator. Go and give him your best.
