SCADstory, Savannah

Must-visit when you're in Savannah. Had afternoon tea across the street and saw the gift shop. While perusing, we were serendipitously approached by a student who asked if we were interested in the tour. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised! Such a fun/creative/inspiring way to showcase SCAD's history. I thought that I was on a ride at Universal Studios. Even if you're not interested in attending the school, you have to do the tour. It's absolutely stunning.

A fantastic experience all around. We loved the fact that the story was hosted by students. Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly. The story itself was put together very well with a ton of great effects and story telling techniques. My career is not in the arts, but it even made me want to go to SCAD! My 13 month old loved it and was not afraid of the effects so I feel like most parents should have no problem bringing their little ones. Overall, it was a pleasure visiting and we will definitely be recommending the SCADstory to anyone that we know visiting the area.

Even if you're not interested in SCAD itself, SCADStory is still a fun little experience to do when you first arrive in Savannah! The tour is free and short, but the visual experience is really cool and well worth your time. They weren't kidding when they said it felt like something you'd find at Disneyland! I really like that the experience is also hosted by students of the school, and you can really see the passion and love they have for the school. Definitely hit this place up ASAP when you're in the city!

Spent two days in Savannah with the main goal of hitting up the art scene. Visited most of the well known historical homes and museums and by far this experience was our family’s favorite. It’s free to make a reservation and is a 4D immersive “movie” experience. My 11 year old daughter said it was even at Disney/Universal level with the special effects and I completely agree. The origins story of SCAD is nothing short of inspiring and literally left myself and my family in tears. It’s also only about 15 and a great chance to escape the heat. Highly recommend!

Wey cool place. A multimedia (lights, wind, sounds, etc) presentation about 20 minutes long. Very informative and fun. All about the origins of SCAD. Note that you’ll be standing during it. They ask for donations (when you make the reservation and there), but I saw nowhere to donate cash. You have to swipe your card I think, but I didn’t really see how it worked.
