Satisfy your sweet tooth with a visit to Savannah's Candy Kitchen, a southern delight famous for its pecan pralines, cakes, and pies. The largest candy company in the southeastern part of the country, this privately-owned and operated business creates and sells praline gift tins, baskets, and boxes, as well as showcasing other sweet treats that range from old-fashioned licorice twists to sugar-free chocolate truffles. As you enter the store, stop by the booth offering free samples of handmade pralines, caramel gophers, and gourmet nuts. You won't want to leave until you've checked out the store's on-site production of saltwater taffy, made using a century-old candy machine. • Never have I been to a shop that makes the waffles for the cone infront of you as you order. Portion size was enormous and the gelato's all seemed to look great!  more »

  • It's not a trip to Savannah without a trip to the Savannah Candy Kitchen! There are two of these, one in city market and one on River Street. Both are great. The River Street one is a bit bigger, and more fun, with a taffy conveyor and drop. Both sites have open kitchens where you can watch the taffy getting pulled and shaped, and the staff making gophers, pralines and popcorn. You can get caramel, candy and special coated apples. Chocolate covered almost anything, truffles, bark and fudge. You can also fill tins with bulk candies, which can be a fun activity for kids or a nice present for family who didn't come along.
  • This was one of the few places we actually went into today in Savannah while visiting various sites. Everything looks delicious and the kids absolutely loved looking around and making their candy decisions which are not easy. I recommend everyone taking g time to look at all the different parts to the store. The handmade candies and choclates we brought are absolutely delicious. However the place was very busy which can be overwhelming for little ones. Also the chocolate we brought was $21.95 a pound! Overall worth the visit but I suggest everyone go in with a budget in mind!
  • My teens and I had fun wandering through this large candy shop and looking at their beautiful and tempting creations. We also enjoyed watching the taffy-making process and were delighted when the taffy maker tossed a few freshly made morsels into the crowd. (Delicious!)
  • I love going here every time I'm in savannah! It's pretty magical the first time you stumble unto it. They have an excellent selection and variety of candy! It's easy to pay a fair amount though, as a slight warning. But if you go in anticipating that, I don't see how anyone could have a bad time. They even make fudge for sale, preferably I go there for all the sour candy they have. But I'm positive they have a little something for everyone! The coolest part by far is their taffy train, they make little pieces of taffy that are wrapped and placed on an overhead conveyer belt that randomly falls down to people :).
  • Didn't purchase anything but walked around and I really love the way they have things set up. The taffy has it's own little belt that transports handmade taffy to the stocking shelf without the need of the candy artist to leave his station. Really dug the old school candy selection. If I were to make a recommendation. It would be to bring in some oversized jawbreakers as I loved those as a kid!
