Grayson Stadium is a stadium in Savannah, Georgia. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field of the Savannah Bananas of the Coastal Plain League collegiate summer baseball league. It was also the part-time home of the Savannah State University college baseball team. It was also used from 1927 until 1959 for the annual Thanksgiving Day game between Savannah High School and Benedictine Academy. Known as "Historic Grayson Stadium" it was built in 1926. It holds 4,000 people.HistoryOriginally known as Municipal Stadium, the park underwent major renovations in 1941 following a devastating hurricane in 1940. Spanish–American War veteran General William L. Grayson led the effort to get the $150,000 needed to rebuild the stadium. Half of the funds came from the Works Progress Administration (WPA). In recognition of Grayson's work, the stadium was renamed in his honor. The first South Atlantic League game with both Black and White players took place at Grayson Stadium on April 14, 1953.The park recently went through a two-year renovation process that started prior to the 2007 season.Timeline DateFormat = yyyy ImageSize = width:750 height:auto barincrement:20 Period = from:1926 till:2016 TimeAxis = orientation:horizontal PlotArea = right:30 left:0 bottom:50 top:5

  • We attended opening night and I have to say, you can tell their focus is on customer satisfaction. The owners were out and about talking to everyone, making sure the lines moved as quickly as possible...  more »

  • Attended Savannah Bananas games last year. Great fun, lots of fan involvement. Nachos are served on the lids of metal garbage cans. Great family event.  more »

  • Savannah Bananas are an amazing team. The owners and players put on a great show for a great deal. Single game tickets $15 with all you can eat and drink concessions. Now you see why the Champion Bananas sell out!
  • The Savannah Bananas have replaced the Sand Gnats as Savannah's main sports attraction housed in Grayson Stadium. Compared to the old Sand Gnats games, the Bananas pull a much larger crowd! If you're General Admission, you'll need to come early to find seats for a group of 4 or more. The games have also gotten more expensive - we still think they are reasonably priced, but definitely a steep increase from the $1 games and $1 beers the Gnats used to boast. Admission is now $9 and beers are around $5, with $3-5 for hotdogs or hamburgers and other snacks. They do still offer craft beer, wine, and some mixed drinks which is nice!
  • The Bananas are doing great. Good stadium. Clean and comfortable seating.
  • This place is just plain fun. There are multiple general admission areas for seating. Make sure you get there early to get a seat, especially if you have a larger group of people wanting to sit next to each other. Even better, spend the extra money and get a reserved seat. All seats here are good views. The stadium is small enough to accommodate that.
  • Great small town historic baseball field. Currently home of the Savannah Bananas. Fantastic time for the whole family
