Savannah's main cemetery for over century, Colonial Park Cemetery has over 9,000 graves. New interments stopped in 1853, but the cemetery remained open for the public. The grounds are landscaped with local species, including trees draped with Spanish moss that give the city its mysterious vibe. • It always amazing to learn about the history of Savannah. They have ghost tours in that you can sigh up to get more historic knowledge. Photos taken 9-13-2019.
  • Densely rich historical information and graves are well respected. Didn't like the fact that a graveyard was turned into a park where you can jog through it or take your dog to relieve itself on nearby markers but nice place nonetheless.
  • What an intoxicating place. It's old, famous, beautiful, and peaceful. This was my second visit, and I spent a couple hours walking around. Some of the markers are so old that you can't make out if there was ever writing on them to immortalize the person buried near it. Others have signs marking who was/is buried, their contributions, and history. A lovely and humbling place to visit.
  • This is a very old and interesting cemetary. There are a lot of family burial vaults in here which seem to be common in this area. The grounds seem well manicured and taken care of. We have visited twice and with a lot of foot traffic, there was no noticable trash or debris laying around. The cemetery is also handicap accessible for those that need this. They also have several plaques throughout that give you more information on things that are located there.
  • I went to the cemetery for two reasons. One is that I love old cemeteries. Two is that I have an ancestor buried there. I spent hours looking around. It's a very peaceful place.
