City Market, Savannah

Historic Walking Area · Landmark
For entertainment, shopping, and dining out in Savannah, the open-air City Market offers a variety of options. The four-block area of restored warehouses was redesigned as a mixed-use space in 1985. At its center, the market features the Art Center, a collection of working studios for artists. Three apartments and offices also occupy the space. • I imagined something like a flea market or a wide avenue of shops and restaurants but City Market was really small. There are plenty of restaurants and bars, a few art galleries, candy and ice cream.....  more »
  • A bit disappointing. It is small - couple of blocks total - and oriented more on adult food and drink than anything else. This is some good food, stores for the kids, and art stores. A lot of...  more »
  • So many cute unique stores and interesting restaurants! So much fun. You need to check out the art galleries, the unique shops.  more »
  • Great place to shop and eat outside. Frequent live music and nightlife. The area is closed off to traffic it's nice to be able to have a drink and listen to live music outside. Great atmosphere!
  • So obviously only for tourists but a worthwhile stop if you need souvenirs. We just went for Byrd's Famous Cookies (worth making it through the crowds to get a bag of these to take many flavors to sample!).
  • The city market was our favorite. I t was directly outside of the hotel. Nice place to hangout when visiting Savannah. Candy, stores, restaurants, and bars are throughout this market. There is also live music. Loved it and recommend anyone to visit this area.
  • This is a fun area with lots of shops, restaurants and art galleries. Easy to spend a relaxing afternoon, have some lunch then sip on a drink under one of the trees in the square. Plenty of options for gifts or that unique momento.
  • City Market is a must stop in Savannah! Lots of great restaurants and shops, a beautiful open air experience with outdoor seating, and a block off is this awesome splash fountain that kids can play in. It's so neat! The Savannah candy company is a treat as well. Go and for some free samples of taffy and watch them make pralines and taffy! There are great places to grab a drink as well such as Wet Willies or Wild Wings, and a few local places too. The Savannah Slow Ride pedal bars also leave from City Market. And just one block off from city market is an absolute gem of a coffee shop...the new location of Bitty and Beau's, a unique coffee shop that hires people with intellectual disabilities. Not only is the coffee delicious and muffins amazing, but the people are incredible. This franchise has been featured on CNN, The Today Show, and many other places. The founder has 2 children with down syndrome and their mission is amazing. Definitely worth a visit!
