Sanborn County Park is a public park situated in the Santa Cruz Mountains owned by the county of Santa Clara, California and managed by the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department. The 3453acre holding is heavily forested and offers hiking and other generally low intensity outdoor uses. The park lies between the town of Saratoga and the ridgetop road, Skyline Boulevard. In the summer months, Sanborn County Park hosts the only outdoor Shakespearean company in Silicon Valley.Overview for hikersExposed on the steep canyon eastern slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Sanborn County Park has one of the coolest summer climates of Santa Clara County’s parks. Towering redwood forests add to this eastern slope exposure in keeping hiking trails comfortable in the heavy use period, from June to September; moreover, there are abundant mixed forest locales having Coast live oak, Pacific madrone, Big leaf maple and Tanbark oak.The park features the first segment of the regional Bay Area Ridge Trail in Santa Clara County, which extends along the ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains to become the Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail, which continues to the Pacific Ocean. This Bay Area Ridge Trail ultimately circumnavigates the entire Bay Area at a length of. The Sanborn and San Andreas trails ascend the eastern mountain slope, eventually joining the Cactus to Clouds Trail (AKA Skyline Trail) and Skyline Boulevard. Summit Rock, which is an established rock-climbing venue offers a panoramic outlook over Saratoga and the South Bay, lies at the upper limit of the park, but is readily reached from the Skyline Boulevard side.Put Sanborn County Park at the forefront of your travel plans using our Saratoga trip itinerary maker.

Very beautiful place with small trials, long trials. Few hiking paths are very steep, you will get to see different kinds of birds and insects. If you are a photographer, you will just enjoy it. You c... more »
Lesser known, no crowds when we visited. Relaxing, lots of shade, places to stop and pull out your lunch bag. Kids and I enjoyed. more »
This out-of-the-way little known park is a great find. Lovely setting especially in spring, close to downtown Saratoga. Great place for a wedding. more »
good for car camping. beautiful scene, redwoods, lots of kids. it was a little crowded at the entrance of the park ( on the good side, it's good for group gatherings, play games, and doing barbecue). camp grounds are way up on the hills, for these have bad knees not a recommendation. otherwise it's a very neat camping place within such a close proximity to the town.
This is a great space for picnic with friends and family. Nice shaded areas with picnic tables and open space for kids to play around. Parking was not too hard to find either. Keep in mind that cellphone reception is spotty or nonexistent.
Great place for a picnic or hike. We took a short hike. Trails were well maintained and marked. Saw a bat clearing bugs in one area - fun!
This is a great part with a few beautiful trails and camping. If you plan to camp there, be sure to reserve a spot and be prepared to drag your staff in a four-wheeled cart up the hill. During "rush hour" it's hard to get a cart and you might have to wait.
Very dog friendly park with a great hiking trail connected to the back of the camping area. Easy to plan and there's usually walk-in campsites available for those last minute trips
