Saratoga Race Course, Saratoga Springs

4.5
#1 of 15 in Casinos in New York State
Dress up, put on a hat, have a picnic, and watch a horse race at Saratoga Race Course. This vintage course has been in use since 1863, and it’s one of the oldest sporting venues in the United States. Aside from the raceway and casino, there is a tasting club and a golf club for entertainment between the races. The yearly racing season lasts 40 days and traditionally ends on Labor Day. • Always fun to visit the track. We only go a few days each season, but it's never a disappointment. Horses aside, the track has great food, great music, and great people watching. Fun with friends as well as family. Something for everyone.
  • There is nothing better than a nice summer day at the track! If you haven't done it, I would highly recommend it. I like weekdays because they are not as crowded and It's much easier to get a table at 7am and parking at 11. It's fun to place small bets on horses, even if you know nothing about horse racing. Because even those that claim to know, lose money! Small town charm at its finest, no wonder people have been doing this for generations.
  • Love this place!!! And I love where no matter what everyone doing they stop and stand for our national anthem. Great place for family and there playground for the kids is very well monitored
  • The Saratoga Race Course is the best 6 weeks of the Summer season if you know how to do it right. Bring in your own cooler with CANS ONLY. There's some good food at the track but it's priced as you'd expect. If you're feeling indulgent, head to the Shake Shack. There are several locations that you can post up with a picnic table but they go FAST. My advice is to get there early and head into Gate B (main gate off of Union Ave), bearing immediately right to the picnic area. Use it as a home base by dropping a table cloth on a table or planting your chairs. It's an unspoken rule that no one will move your things. Watch the horses trot in the Paddock, drink from the Big Red Spring, head to the rail for a race and watch the horses curl the course at the top of the stretch. Find Reggie and his Red Hot Feet Warmers play some tunes and explore the Grandstand walking concourse. Wear a great hat if you can and enjoy the the Saratoga Spa course.
  • So much fun. Pack a cooler and a folding chair. Find a spot outside the track and relax. Make some bets - pop in and out to watch some of the races. Makes for a super enjoyable day.
