(2.7/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Saratoga Casino and Raceway is a -mile standardbred race track and racino located in Saratoga Springs, New York. Saratoga Casino and Raceway is not to be confused with the historic Saratoga Race Course, whose race track and backstretch stables are across the street from the stables of the raceway.FacilitySaratoga Casino and Raceway has three entrances: A primary entrance on Jefferson Street, where the Saratoga Harness Hall of Fame is located, a secondary entrance on Crescent Avenue, and a third entrance on Nelson Avenue, just north of its intersection with Crescent Avenue. The Casino and Raceway is located on the southeastern tip of Saratoga Springs. First opened in 1941 as a harness racing track, the facility was expanded in 2004 to include video lottery gaming terminals, or VLT as they are officially called. The track is a -mile oval, where horses do two laps to complete the commonly used 1mi distance used in U.S. standardbred races. Because of the landscaping present in the infield and the country feel, the track has been dubbed "The most beautiful -mile track in the country. For some time, an expansion of the track to a -mile oval was being discussed, but it never came into fruition, and no further discussion about an expansion to the track's oval has come up in the last 5 years.Inside, the clubhouse is unchanged and is in use for all wagering when racing is underway on the oval outside. The grandstand has seen several changes, especially in the last 10 years. The second floor houses simulcast wagering, as well as enclosed stands and a restaurant. The first floor houses the over 1,700 video lottery terminals, or VLTs for short. They are mostly in the form of video slots, but other forms of video gaming are present, such as poker, roulette, keno and now craps. Except for the craps and roulette, where the results are random and not based on previous outcomes, the slot machines are such where each play is dependent on the results of lottery scratch play ticket pre-determined by the centralized computer system—which in this case is the New York Lottery. All machines work on a voucher system, where the patron inserts money or a ticket, and all payouts are given in the form of a printed voucher, which may be inserted into another machine or turned into the cashier cage for payment.

  • Friendly staff, feels like family. Very nice hotel and I love the pool and spa. Great get away. Oh and the casino is good too. Actually the horse racing is fun too.
  • My room was beautiful unfortunately my toilet did not flush and there was a fore alarm malfunction at 7 am There is no person at desk after hours so I got a recording. I was told at check out.no one could help me at that time I must call manager. To date I have made two calls and promised a call bk because she was busy both times. Still waiting .
  • This review is for the Buffet. The buffet is located inside Saratoga Casino Hotel - all the way in the back. My coworkers and I decided to stop by here after going to Roosevelt Spa and checked out the buffet offerings. At $16 per person for dinner, it wasn't a horrible choice and the food was okay. There wasn't a huge variety but to name some of the options: - Italian Station: various pastas, garlic bread and pizza. The pastas were overcooked - Salad station - Asian Station: Veggie gyoza, lo mein, sauteed mixed veggies, teriyaki whitefish, fortune cookies, white rice. The fish was excellent - Dessert Station: Pound cake, various pies, brownies, fruits - Carving Station: Turkey and Beef, on the sides they had mash potato, sweet potato, au jus, pot roast (way to hard/tough), wild rice. The sweet potato mash with marshmallow was really good and not overly sweet, the wild rice was flavorful but on the saltier side. - Soup Station: Chicken noodle, miso, corn and turkey chowder. Corn and turkey was good but really salty. Service was excellent, value was decent. The place itself could use a renovation because it's really dim and colorless inside.
