An island with a misspelled name, St. Armands Circle Association was purchased by a Frenchman named St. Amand in the 19th century. His name was misspelled on land deeds, and that error became the name of the island. John Ringling, the circus magnate, purchased the land in 1917 and turned it into a residential and shopping area. Upon exploring, you'll discover that St. Armands Circle sits at the heart of the action, encompassed by shops, restaurants, and cafes with outdoor seating that allow you to enjoy the breeze over the water. Put St. Armands Circle Association into our Sarasota trip itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • We have enjoyed visiting St. Armands Circle for about 20 years. Most of the shops are great and the eateries are all pretty good. I was there last week in the rain and still had a great time.  more »
  • A great place for shopping or just having some great Ice Cream and doing some people watching. There are a large variety of stores and they are always new ones opening. Always a fun place.  more »
  • It's the "circle" in St, Armands Circle that make this dining and shopping destination so appealing. You're never too far from where you started. With a minimal number of national chains, St. Armands ...  more »

  • I love this area of Sarasota. Beautifully laid out with great shopping and restaurants. A lit to do in Sarasota.
  • It is a great place to walk around and entertain out-of-town guests. Conversation is easy benches in rest areas. Plenty to see and do
  • Great place to shop. Many choices for eating. You may even see a celebrity
  • A little too swanky for me. Might be nice if you're the type who wants to "see and be seen". I'm just not into that.
  • Very cool tourist location. Lots of gift shops and restaurants. A weeeee bit expensive.
