  • Played the English course today with four other golfers. Never played as a fivesome before but seeing that there were almost zero other golfers at 9 AM we got around and never saw another group of gol...  read more »
  • We were very disappointed. Began with being charged $20 a golfer for cart, although one in our foursome had a card for 10 free rounds of golf. Although greens are in very good condition, the fairways ...  read more »

  • It doesn't allow me to select negative stars or I would have gone with a -5. By FAR the worst golf course I've ever played in my life. They charge $35.00 in the offseason, it should be free! The fact that anyone plays here twists my mind in knots. There are 50 yard patches of "fairway" that are literally just dirt on ever hole. The greens are horrendous and the course is basically weeds and dandelions. Go play gorgeous courses like University Park, Esplanade, Waterlefe, Sarasota National for the SAME price. Seriously wouldn't play this dump again if I was paid to. We quit after the 5th hole. It's a joke and embarrassment to the man it is named after.
  • Even though the course is in terrible shape, still my favorite in Sarasota for the convenience. Not too busy, staff doesn't care if you skip around holes but greens are unputtable. Terrible shape. For $19 some like it hot special, it is worth it. But don't pay regular rates or you will be disappointed.
  • I played yesterday. The pro shop guy was very friendly and helpful. The cart guy was funny and very helpful. The started was best of all. He made it a point to remember people's names and to explain the course layout. I played with two local guys who were really nice. We played pretty much the same. Not bad not great. I enjoyed the course even though the course I played just had new greens put in. Putting was a little slow but that was to be expected. All and all I had a wonderful round of golf at a nice golf course.
  • American course. pro shop folks were courteous and helpful. the course on the other hand was in terrible shape. the rough had lots of clover growing in it and there were lots of leaves and spanish moss there as well. fairways were sparse in many places. the greens were horrendous. too many bare spots. tee boxes were worn out. bobby jones would sue the county for defaming his name if he were alive to see this mess.
  • I'd give this a 5 Star if the course (British) wasn't a bit rough shape after the redo on greens from October. Here it was late December and fairways were tight & green, tee boxes not at all chewed up with all the play, and greens were true but a bit fuzzy. Always pleasant staff, great speed of play, and at the deals available even in high season, just a little over a $1 a hole. Not meant to be a pristine track, many challenges, including length on some 5's, great way for a northerner to get in a round without spending big $$$.
