  • This is one of the best hiking trails in Santa Rosa. If you are out of the area and want a beautiful walk along a lake, this is the place to go.  more »

  • To escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Spring Lake Park is a little piece of heaven tucked away for anyone and everyone to spend some time for a number of activities. Walking, hiking, biking, skateboarding, boating, fishing, swimming at the lagoon during the summer months... The wildlife is beautiful and peaceful. Contrary to the belief that the Canadian Geese shouldn't be here, they have made Sonoma County their home. We have gorgeous flocks of said geese. The trail around the lake itself is 2.3 miles. It's not too hard on your body and it's nice and quiet. My only concern and complaint is that the bicyclists rarely yield to pedestrians which is not the order of things. They expect the walkers to stop and let them go speeding by. It's frustrating and dangerous. It's not Tour De France at Spring Lake, guys.
  • Took my grand-dog kayaking today. It was great fun! He park personnel were very nice and accommodating. It is beautiful there and well supervised. Great family fun for all, safe environment.
  • Fun well kept swimming hole. The kids can do water jumpies/bouncy houses like. Sadly the otter Cafe is still not open as of this weekend. Would be nice to have some french fries and onion rings. Oh well.
  • We always love to walk around the lake. It's a good hike and so peaceful. Our dog loves it too! As with any park in the area, there are tons of Canadian Geese but they mostly keep to themselves.
  • DON'T RENT PEDDLE BOATS! Their 4-person Peddle boats (not paddleboards) are the most cheap and difficult to use Peddle boats with uncomfortable seats I've ever tried--I've rented them several times and had them at summer camp as a child. The flimsy Rudder barely did anything to steer even when it was clear of weeds, the "adjustable" seats kept coming out of their sockets, and the peddles themselves were small and awkward to Peddle. I regret letting my father talk us into renting the peddle boat, it was a lousy time! The overall experience at the lake was nice and the boat rental staff were very nice and helpful. There were plenty quiet, private areas across the lake, despite being a very hot Sunday and father's day.

Where to stay in Santa Rosa

The old claim that Santa Rosa is "Where Everything Comes Together" remains undeniably true, at least when it comes to its accommodations. Although you can always stay in San Francisco, just an hour to the south, Santa Rosa offers plenty of lodging options to suit every traveler's budget. You can choose from among luxury hotels, vacation rental homes, and inns, all within minutes of downtown. If you prefer to rough it in wine country, choose one of the area's rustic campgrounds.
