Enjoy an African adventure in wine country at Safari West. On the three-hour riding and walking tour, you'll see a variety of exotic wildlife, including gazelles, zebras, antelopes, Cape buffalo, and wildebeests. During the walking portion, admire colorful birds in the open-air aviary, and watch primates play in the branches on Lemur Island. After the safari, try some barbecue and local wine on the cafe's veranda. On-site lodging is available. For guided tours on an all-terrain vehicle, reserve in advance; space is limited. • We visited in August, staying overnight and taking the safari the next day. This was part of a 9 day trip to San Francisco. After the trip I asked my kids (10 and 7) what they enjoyed the most about t...  more »

  • It looked like a great place for our anniversary weekend. Everything looked up said it was for kids 4 and up. That the animals could be a little talkative at night. We reserve a nice room that is kind if pricey but the experience should be worth it. What we got was a nice room and were lucky enough to get to listen to a baby cry until 2:30 AM. Then were woken up yet again by the baby crying at 5AM. Spoke to staff about it since the attractions said 4 and up they dismissed it altogether. We didn't hear the animals at all. Just crying. We go to try to eat breakfast and the tour guide says they wanted to head out early. So we had to miss that. Considering we paid approx. $600 for 1 night, dinner and the tour. It was so not worth it. Our tour guide was nice and she made it entertaining as she was very knowledgeable, yet we couldn't even sit together and it was our anniversary trip. Super disappointing.
  • Excellent. Friendly. Fun. Come and stay in a Safari Tent!! I love this place so much but the problem is everything was so perfect that it ended up costing me $16,000 because we had to go to Tanzania for a month. When you do stay here be careful because you may end up in Africa.
  • What a fun place. Every single person we met face awesome care and attention. Safari tour was great. Tents were comfy. Had to leave early although we reserved for 2 nights. Staff waived the cost for the second night. They did not have to, but what great service. We will be back some day.
  • This was an unforgettable experience my husband and I will cherish forever! Thank you Robert (our guide) for giving us such an amazing tour around this magnificent property! What a way to celebrate our very first wedding anniversary!
  • Had the most amazing experience with my son's class on a field trip. Our guide was bubbly and great with the kids. We will definitely be going back!

Where to stay in Santa Rosa

The old claim that Santa Rosa is "Where Everything Comes Together" remains undeniably true, at least when it comes to its accommodations. Although you can always stay in San Francisco, just an hour to the south, Santa Rosa offers plenty of lodging options to suit every traveler's budget. You can choose from among luxury hotels, vacation rental homes, and inns, all within minutes of downtown. If you prefer to rough it in wine country, choose one of the area's rustic campgrounds.
