Enjoy an African adventure in wine country at Safari West. On the three-hour riding and walking tour, you'll see a variety of exotic wildlife, including gazelles, zebras, antelopes, Cape buffalo, and wildebeests. During the walking portion, admire colorful birds in the open-air aviary, and watch primates play in the branches on Lemur Island. After the safari, try some barbecue and local wine on the cafe's veranda. On-site lodging is available. For guided tours on an all-terrain vehicle, reserve in advance; space is limited. • Nice area located in Santa Rosa featuring a sort of a wildlife reserve where visitors go on a safari tour complete with safari Jeep. Very educational for both adults and children. After the jeep tour, the guide will take visitors on a walking tour featuring some wildlife such as monkeys, and birds, etc. There are accommodations on the site should one have the desire to spend a night among the wildlife. I thought the food was very good - BBQ smoked chicken cooked over wood, pulled pork...good stuff. Safari West is about 2 hours north of the east bay where I reside and it was well worth the trip. If you're looking for something different to do that's fun and educational, give this place a try!
  • Had an amazing day - the safari was great and also informative, the guided walk around was equally nice and the food was good too. The guides are quite knowledgeable as well. It's not quite the real safari but that's not a comparison to be made. It makes for a good family outing but probably more entertaining for smaller kids as they won't miss the big cats.
  • Had a great time staying at Safari West. The tour we took was first rate; 2 1/2 hours with an extremely knowledgeable and articulate guide (Richard). The other folks we interacted with were all courteous, polite, and professional. The grounds and facilities were clean and maintained at a higher level than I've ever seen at an outdoor venue. Far larger and a lot more animals than we were expecting... Highly recommend Safari West and will probably return.
  • Awesome facility, loved the Jeep tour and I definitely suggest taking advantage of walking around the facility again after your tour to see things you may have missed. We picked the 5pm to take advantage of the weather cooling down and the chance to see a nice sunset.
