  • This area of town has a lot to offer. We go for the antique shops and thrift shops. There are restaurants and bars for every price range. You should take a look.  more »
  • Cool area that offers a little of everything: restaurants, beauty salons, art galleries, clothing stores, furniture, jewelry, coffee shops, hotel and nightclub. Highlights: La Gare (French restaurant,...  more »
  • Nice shops and restaurants but, there is a HUGE homeless population roaming the area, and hundreds of people living under the freeway bridges that the city just ignores. Afraid to park my car near her...  more »

  • A good collection of shops and restaurants. If you're lucky, you might be able to find an unmetered parking spot, but don't hold your breath! Farmer's Market is nice. Some transient folks. Generally a good vibe.
  • Railroad Square is definitely beautiful and has that old small town feel to it. If you take a closer look around you'll notice the big redwood trees, old can on the rooftop, various Peanuts cartoon statues and more! During the summer they have many events there ranging from classic car shows to the Wednesday night market.
  • It was OK, not really all that much to see and do. Our visit may have been different had we not had our dog with us on such a hot day. Just a few streets to walk. Parking fairly convenient (meters). Saw quite a large homeless grouping of people which made us uncomfortable enough to alter our route back to the car as it looked like something illegal was taking place.
  • Try their Holiday roast! Perfect for your morning brew !
  • This is one of my favorite parts of Santa Rosa. There is so much there, so much diversity and community. This was the transportation hub of all of Sonoma County and it will hopefully be more important again once the SMART Trains start actually carrying people. It was were much of the commerce took place for the entire County. While it is not the hub it once was, it is still culturally and economically important. It has fine energy and perfect examples of great local business, like the West End Farmers Market, Toad in the Whole Pub, The Arlene Francis Center and Bike Monkey and not so great. It is a hub of small businesses taking part in keeping things happy and healthy while making a living and with the perhaps necessary accents of big goofy Corp Business that is the antithesis of what make this place special!

Where to stay in Santa Rosa

The old claim that Santa Rosa is "Where Everything Comes Together" remains undeniably true, at least when it comes to its accommodations. Although you can always stay in San Francisco, just an hour to the south, Santa Rosa offers plenty of lodging options to suit every traveler's budget. You can choose from among luxury hotels, vacation rental homes, and inns, all within minutes of downtown. If you prefer to rough it in wine country, choose one of the area's rustic campgrounds.
