Visit Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center, dedicated to "Peanuts" comics and featuring 7,000 original comic strip drawings and various artwork. See the recreation of Schulz's work area, with his original drawing board. You'll meet the evolving personae of Snoopy, carved in a 43-layer wooden sculpture, and see a mural of Lucy and Charlie Brown containing 3,588 comic strip images painted on 5 x 20 cm (2 x 8 in) ceramic tiles. You can learn to become a cartoonist in the education room, where hands-on activities invite would-be artists of all ages (it's included with the price of admission). Browse through original artworks created for the comics, see Shultz's personal items, such as ice skates and a bowling ball, and take a walk through a labyrinth in the shape of Snoopy's head. You'll find other treasures outside the museum, including a cafe and ice skating arena. Put Charles M. • I'm sure there's plenty to do in and around Santa Rosa, but for some reason we ended up here at the end of a recent afternoon. What a nice surprise! The building itself (architecture, design, etc.) is...  more »
  • This was a great way to spend a couple of hours. You can't walk through the museum and NOT have a smile on your face. Why wouldn't you go here?  more »
  • My family and I went here over Christmas vacation and it was absolutely one of a kind. It has Charles Shultz's office, a mural of his comics and numerous statues and Peanuts characters attractions. It...  more »

  • We heard about this museum years before we actually made the trip up.  Out in front of the museum are life size figures of Schultz's creation.  I was impressed that a museum was built for a "cartoon character" but for the "creator, I'm sure it was an honor!"   The inside was impressive with Schultz's drawings and other works of art throughout the museum.  There was also a display of a 50s furniture that he used in one of his comic strips.  His comic's strips were simple but had a huge effect on millions of followers.   The museum was well organized and had a lot of displays depicting Mr. Schultz's life and his cartoon strip of the Peanut's Gang.
  • So much bigger and better than expected! Reasonably priced, something for all ages and a sweet and helpful staff. Could have spent days there!
  • Very interesting. Great history lesson. Wonderful informative staff. If you weren't a Peanuts fan before....you will be after this.
  • We love this local museum not only for the exhibits but their events. We never miss the early new year's Eve party and we just discovered First Fridays movie nights. During winter and early spring they show some of Charles Schulz's favorite movies in the little theater with popcorn and candy. That was one of the most fun theater experiences ever! Also, summer camps that the kids will love.
  • Beautiful museum housing the largest collection of Peanuts artwork created by famous cartoonist Charles Schulz. The facilities are filled with light and history, a memory trip to the home of Charlie Brown and his beloved group of friends. The knowledgeable volunteer docents are helpful and friendly, they are great hosts in the home of Charlie and Snoopy. The Ice Rink and the Cafe are awesome, great place to meet with family and friends...love(:

The old claim that Santa Rosa is "Where Everything Comes Together" remains undeniably true, at least when it comes to its accommodations. Although you can always stay in San Francisco, just an hour to the south, Santa Rosa offers plenty of lodging options to suit every traveler's budget. You can choose from among luxury hotels, vacation rental homes, and inns, all within minutes of downtown. If you prefer to rough it in wine country, choose one of the area's rustic campgrounds.
