I've played here 6-7 times and have always gotten good service. The pro shop staff aren't bubbly and cheerful, but hey - they're all 70-80 yr old men. They're very business like, but have never been rude. The course is always is great shape, and is a fun and fair challenge. In regards to the complaints about price - that's what golf costs at the beach. Sandestin's courses are way more than that if you're not staying there. Bottom line is, if you want a $40 goat track, or if you want to hit unlimited balls AFTER your round, go somewhere else. If you want a fun round of golf on a very well kept course, that's not in Destin or Panama City, this is your place.
We were in town from Texas and for the price we were about to pay I was expecting 5 star everything. Turns out staff is not very helpful, only good service was the server at the turn behind the bar. Grounds crew was on the course during the entire back nine, switching hole placement, always seeming to be waiting for us to take a shot. If your going to pay good money to play I would recommend somewhere closer to the water with better review.
Hey I liked this course like I like virtually all golf courses. It played well, is in good shape, the greens were very fast and rolled true. Every interaction I had with the staff was pleasant, but then, I'm a friendly guy. I'm 67, have been playing about 15 years and have played literally all over the country. I had a very enjoyable round of golf here and the only drawback I could see was the price. $91 and change w/ the tax is very pricey, but I was willing to pay it, and would pay it again if we are back here. Carts are new and immaculate. Range was nice and convenient and part of the green fee. Bunkers are well sanded w/ white sand. Challenges for all level of player. Risk/reward shots abound. I'm an 18 handicap and I shot an 87. They don't allow you to walk if you're not a member. This irks me slightly, but I totally see why they do it.
Don't bother.....The course was average and gimmicky. Several 90 degree doglegs and sub 350 yard holes. The condition was not bad, but it wasn't emaculat either. The practice facilities were sub par, which brings me to my real problem. After my round, we drove back over to the driving range. After about 15 minutes the head "cart boy" drove his cart right up on the range and told us we had to leave. I made sure he knew we had paid for and just finished a round, but he said it didn't matter, that he had already let us hit for 15 minutes and that access to the range was only allowed pre-round. I was shocked and a little embarrassed so I decide to run in and let the pro shop know that they had a rogue cart boy. They informed me that although they were unaware of a pre/post round driving range policy, he was just doing his job. Well done Santa Rosa Golf Club using your cart boys in a dual role as customer relations agents. I really enjoyed laying out several hundred dollars in your establishment and then getting run off by a 42 year old cart boy with bad breath and bed head. Thanks again for the average golf and atrocious service.
Nice track. Challenging. Greens were in great shape. And the staff is great.
