  • Brian, a Downtown Ambassador was working in the park the evening we were there and he was super informative and thoughtful about the questions I asked him. What he told us about the park, the art, the...  more »
  • Beautiful public park in front of the Santa Monica Pier with playground for children and too green to sit back and relax. Beautiful landscaping. Worth the ride.

  • Walked through on our way back to our hotel. It's beautiful and kind of tucked away. We wandered back to the play area and were amazed at how cool it was back there. This was a kid free vacation, but ...  more »

  • Great place to relax. Step into the park and you'll forget there's a freeway north of you and beach traffic west. You will find some homeless people but no one wants to cause trouble, people just want to be relax and sleep. Definitely somewhere where time can slip by without you noticing. Beautiful and worth checking out.
  • Amazingly beautiful. More of a garden than a park. It was the highpoint of my weekend in Santa Monica. Stay on Main and walk the blocks to and just past Finn McCools for some cool shops. See a few tourist traps and elsewhere and move on. You can see everything there is to see in SM in one day.
  • The park is beautiful and the design is amazing. However at most every twist and turn there are homeless sleeping on benches or roaming around. I feel bad in stating that's why I'm rating this park so low since I know homelessness is such a large problem, but for a park I would want my wife and son to go by themselves.
  • My son's favorite park. However it gets very hot at midday and there is no shade. Also, it is difficult to watch two toddlers, there are lot of hidden places. Otherwise it is one of the best plashpad playground I have been!
  • Quiet place. There's always people sleeping on benches and around the park but overall it's a nice place where you can walk your dog or take a quick break during the work week.

Where to stay in Santa Monica

Santa Monica's hotels range from luxury to boutique, offering more than 3,500 rooms located at or near the waterfront. Staying at a beachfront resort can cost a bundle, so if you have a limited budget in mind, consider accommodations away from the water. Hotels just a few blocks from the ocean offer comfortable rooms with free Wi-Fi and cable TV at a fraction of the cost charged by their beachfront equivalents. For an even more affordable stay, consider one of the city's inns or motels.
